i noticed a pimple-like growth near the base of the shaft of my penis. i attempted to pop it and in the next week or so, it only got large. does this mean it is infected? it's been four weeks now since i first noticed it and it's hardly noticeable anymore. is it usual for pimples to last that long if they get infected, or should i go to the doctor to see if its something more serious? there wasn't any pus in the growth, only that clear fluid you get in some pimples.
thanks
I have the same thing... I think, except I haven't tried to pop it yet... does anybody know what it is?
Ah, yes, puberty. You can get the occassional pimple on the shaft of your penis -- I had a couple when I was younger and, sure, I was embarrased showering after hockey games but it is no serious medical emergency. Leave them alone for ten days (do not touch, pick, pop or scratch anything that might resemble a sore, blister, lesion, or pimple on your penis or scrotum).
As to talk about rashes on the inner-thighs and groin: this could be tinea curis ("jock itch"), a fungal infection which is treatable with over-the-counter Tinactin, applied twice daily for two weeks, or it could possibly be a bacterial infection that might require a cortisone treatment (which you should receive a prescription) or some anti-fungal or anti-biotic drugs.
If you have small white "bumps" or "pimples" on your penis they could be penile papules (I was worried about this when I was younger) -- this is common, harmless, and completely normal. Another poster commented on this above. Do not worry about them.
There is a possibility that you might have caused an infection on your penis. At this point I think (if it has not already healed) you should visit your family doctor. Remember that visits with family physicians are confidential and you should not feel embarrassed -- now would be a good time to talk with him about your growing body, and any other concerns that you have.
If you have had vaginal or oral intercourse (you can contract STDs with or without condoms) and are concerned you should see a doctor or STD clinic. Both you and your girlfriend should be tested, and you should discuss contraceptive use and proper sexual health. Many common ailments, such as jock itch, yeast infections, etc., are mistaken as STDs unless properly diagnosed. But then I cannot do this online.
Last of all -- stop worrying, get off the internet.
Good luck.

P.S. I doubt it's an STD because i have never been involved in any type of sexual relationship.
