hello.
my name is Jess and I am currently 18 years old. Living in Washington State. I met my boyfriend 2 years ago and immediately got onto birth control. My doctor told me the depo provera would be better for me knowing that i wasnt the best at remembering to take my pills.
I started getting the shot in November of 2007. Took it every three months on time, gradually i started seeing myself gain a little weight and being prone to eating even when i was not hungry. Little problems every so often would come up and i would talk to my mom about it and she told me im just "growing". Some of the problems were sharp pains in my abdomen, spotting a very thick discharge, not having a period at all for the whole time i was on the shot. loosing hair (and thick amounts) when i would brush it. Problems that weren't normal for me (being 16 at the time). Once i graduated high school i stopped going to my dr to get my birth control shot. i have not been getting the shot now for almost a whole year. and i am currently not on any birth control. I have finally been getting my period back but now it seems way worse than it had ever been. (i started my first period when i was 10). i get extremely heavy days and some where i dont bleed at all. Sometimes i get cramps that make me want to go the emergency room because they are so bad and im bleeding so much.
my main concern is that my boyfriend and i have had unprotected sex quite a few times and i have never been pregnant. EVER. so now im worried that the depo shot has made me unable to have children. is there any way for me to find out ?
