I use to get this too, are you all fairly active and under 25? if so, i dont think its anything to worry about, it seems fairly common, but I'm not a medical expert or anything just another victim, who happens to have a interest in science!
There's a structure in the developing fetus called the urachus, which is a tube leading from the bladder to the umbilicus, this develops into the urethra ect. So when the umbilical core is cut and tied into a belly button, it is still connected to the urethra. Hence why this effect our most delicate of areas.
I read alot about how theres no connection between these two, but this is rubbish, it simple biological development/evolution!
The nerves in your belly button are rarely stimulated so are very sensitive. The pain is caused by nerves ending that runs from your belly button down and connect to uritha that spasms, and tighten, this tension is why when you stretch backwards it pulles tight and hurt like hell and is sensitive to touch! (spasms causing that random twinge of pain)
If you guys dont believe me, there's plenty of documented cases of where the belly button is tied right, and urine leaks out of it... which sound pretty dam nasty!!
I dont know how to stop it, except the curl into a ball i hope it dissappears, lol! Just thought some of you would like some backgroud Knowledge on it. Easy to find out more info... just not a cure!
And i tried to never pee when I had it... you brave fools! jus wait 10 mins and hope it goes away quick!
I thankfully stopped getting this a few years ago, so maybe it's something to do with growing, i used to be a bit lanky, but still i don't see why some of you larger people shouldn't suffer with this too!
Doctor's dont seem to know cos it so minor, and obviously never amount to anything more serious... hence the crappy answers online!
oh and by the way I ain't ever had a hernia, any appendix problems, kidney infection, and i'm pretty sure it aint a kidney stone cos it would hurt like hell on the way out!
Sorry to the creationist... I've left you out. I know your not allowed think about the real facts and science so here's an answer just for you guys: God didn't mess it up, God just doesn't like you! or would you prefer.., the pain is not real it's create by the devil to trick you!
Anyway to all you normals, hope this info helps a bit, although it doesn't solve anything for ya, You'll just have to wait till it goes away on its own! :-P

Due to muscle spasm, cramping: hunching, sitting with body leaning forward for too long make abdominal muscles contract over time. It will shorten and constricted when pull, sudden bending with pressure also can cause muscle cramp (you feel pain and you stop moving - its a defense mechanism to protect internal organs and muscles from tear/wear) so stay calm and let those muscles relax and lengthen. Pulling away, stretching with force will further damage and take longer time to recover. Manage with a short break and walk around. Avoid sitting for too long. Apply gentle massage to upper and lower abs to relax and improve blood circulation. Cardio-exercising, warm up and stretching will help to strengthening the back and front muscles thus prevent and improve muscle conditioning and flexibility. Hope that info helps. Good luck from Mr. Kumar

i'm going through the same thing. go to the doctor and get antibiotics. this only happens to me when i have a UTI. also try cranberry juice or cranberry pills and advil. they help the pain. it happens when i stretch and when i use the bathroom so it sounds like your issue.
