19 Year old, male.

Been having these pains for years, they just appear out of nowhere and seriously cause a lot for pain for me, especially when I am sitting at the computer (I do a graphics course in college) heck, even as I am typing I am getting that horrid pin prick pain in my belly button area.

To the doctors, ahoy!

I'd highly recommend going to the doctors, doesn't matter if you look like an id**t, ya gotta find out what is wrong.

I had the exact same thing happen to me a few years ago, and it was the 2nd time. The first time it happened (years before that) it went away on its own after a week or so. The 2nd time, I went to the doctor thinking maybe I had a slight hernia. As it turned out, I had a cyst (like a big zit/pimple) right behind my belly button, and I was exerting pressure on it every time I stood up or moved around, hence why it only felt okay when I stayed perfectly still, and best when I was curled up in a ball.

The doctor pushed very hard in my belly button with a gloved hand (which was quite awkward at the time) and I felt a sharp pain. He pulled his finger away and it had some blood and pus on it. He gave me a prescription for antibiotics which knocked it completely out within 3 days, though I suspect his popping it probably would have eventually done the trick.

That may or may not be your issue, but just wanted to say that I had been thinking all sorts of horrible things could potentially be happening with my intestines or abdomen muscles, and it turned out I somehow got a disgusting cyst under my belly-button skin. Never would have guessed that! I shower daily, though the doctor said it may have come from not rinsing soap completely out of my belly-button.

I get a pain like that but it kind of feels like a slow explosion starting from my belly button and exploding outwards. I've been to the doctors so many times about this each time they tell me something different.

Hello Badger, I am curious to know what the doctor said if you wouldn't mind discussing that here or through email. I am having what seems to be like a similar issue.

I have the same pain that u speak of. I'm a 27 year old female that been havin this pain since I was 9. I yet to find out what it is. I'm currently goin thru the pain as I write this. I never went to the doctors cause the pain never lasted longer than 1 day. But its getting worst every time it come back. I can't stand up nor walk. When I sneeze or cough it makes me feel like I'm paralyzed for a little less than a min. The pain that I feel is like a string is connect to my belly button and anus. So when I go to stand it feels as tho the string will pop and leave me paralyzed. I do find comfort in curling into a ball or bending over, but standing straight up bring tremendous pain.

I'm 5,7' I weigh 162 lbs. I have been losing weight after I did the Insanity workout. And have been lifting weights for three weeks now. A yesterday I started feeling that sting in my belly button. I was thinking it was a hernia but I don't think that is the cause last night I felt it more than the day before. I woke up in the middle of the night with the sting. I balled my body up and the pain subsided. If the pain continues for the next couple of day I will go to my Dr.. I will post anything he tells me if it is helpful.

I have the exact same problem. It comes at very random times and only lasts about an hour. Maybe once a week. But it feels like an extremely sharp pain behind my belly button and its almost as if something is slightly torn and stretching out hurts it worse but curling up eases it. The term you used, "Imbillical Hernia" sounds like the closest/most logical thing to explain what this is.

Hi, I have a question. So after that how long did it take before the pain finally disappeared? Please answer.

I am also a male 20 years old having this issue after a long day of golf. I believe the problem is caused by a nerve in the back being smushed. If you sit put your left hand on your left leg right hand over the left shoulder and pull slowly turning out like you're trying to crack your back both ways then take a hot shower it relieves the pain
