I have the same symptoms as you guys and I also have IC. I have the burning in and around my vagina and dampness in my underwear throughout the day,no itchyness . 6 months ago I had back to back BV and they put me on Metronidazole gel and it cleared up but now its not BV or Yeast. Thinking I had another BV I use leftover Metronidazole  and it  did absolutely Nothing! I saw someone wrote that the burning is minimal in the morning but as the day progresses and they walk around more at work it gets worse ( burning and irritated) and that's what I'm dealing with too! Some days are worse than others and I feel like the only relief I get is when I'm on my period ( I feel normal) I know it's not my IC flare up or a UTI. I'm getting fed up with this burning and the dampness in my underwear What can this be?Please help!

Hello.

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing these uncomfortable symptoms. It's understandable that you may feel frustrated and worried about what could be causing them.

The symptoms you describe, such as burning in and around the vagina, dampness in your underwear, and worsening of symptoms throughout the day, could be related to a variety of conditions.

One possibility is that you have a bacterial or fungal infection, such as bacterial vaginosis or a yeast infection. These types of infections can cause similar symptoms to what you are experiencing. However, it's important to note that not all infections may be responsive to metronidazole or other antibiotics, so further testing may be needed to confirm a diagnosis.

Another possibility is that your symptoms are related to your IC (interstitial cystitis). IC can cause discomfort in the bladder and surrounding areas, including the vagina. However, it's important to note that IC symptoms typically do not include discharge or dampness in the underwear.

Other potential causes of your symptoms could include hormonal imbalances, skin conditions, or allergies. Your healthcare provider may perform a pelvic exam, take a sample of discharge for testing, or order additional tests to help determine the underlying cause.

In the meantime, there are some steps you can take to manage your symptoms. Wearing loose, breathable clothing and avoiding irritants such as scented products or harsh soaps can help. You may also find relief by using a cool compress or taking a warm bath. Over-the-counter treatments for yeast infections may provide some temporary relief.
