My experience has not been so good, I understand that there was meant to be pain, but no painkiller worked what so ever (codiene, paracetamol etc). I also encourted severe bleeding the following Friday, but after going to the hospital, they told me there was nothing they could do. The pain has been excruciating, and it has become increasingly difficult to eat and even drink. I have reached things to eat and drink that aid with pain and recovery, but there is nothing that I havent tried that works.
Now, two weeks on, it has finally started to clear, the swelling has significantly reduced and I can finally open my mouth. I am now able to look inside at exactly what is going on. To my horror, I discovered that what I at first thought was a blood clot, was infact a gaping hole in the left arch of my mouth. It measures about 1cm in length, and approximately 7mm across, with about 5mm 'left' of the muscle to its side.
The other side is not like this, and from all post tonsillectomy images I have seen, it is not supposed to be like this.
Is there anything I can do? Sue the hospital, as it causes great difficult when eating?
Any advice would be appriciated,
Thank you.
(I have included a diagram to describe my situation)

Since I've posted this, the whole has completely disappeared, I have found out that this is very common, my cousin too had this but hers has fully gone, yet it causes her no trouble or pain.
However, since the op, approx 5-6 monthhs, I am still repeatedly going back to the hospital as althoughthere is no constant pain, I still suffer discomfort when trying to eat citrusy and spicy food, also, on the odd occasional day, i do find that no matter how many ibruprofen or paracetemol i have taken, the pain is hard to get rid off.
I am now on mild antidepressents for the pain, and I am scheduled to go back for more blood tests. My case is very rare, so hopefully it wont be as bad for you!
hope everything goes well.
