Hello,
I’m trying to schedule neurofibromatosis tumors removal surgery for my face and since I’ve progressed to thousands of new tumors, I was looking into newer procedures. The one I found, electro desication that sounds finally like something that is worth investing money into (my insurance covers only 50%) since it’s done by a plastic surgeon. It sounds perfect, since they’ll be able to remove around 500 nf tumors at one appointment, which would mean I’ll be able to cover face and the neck.
Has anyone had NF tumors removed using electro desiccation? Is recovery really this easy, without any stitches? I know it depends how many tumors you had removed, but since this is my first time doing this procedure, any experience is more than welcome.
Hello, Guest. I am not a patient who has had this treatment but upon research on the procedure, it looks to be fairly simple in regards to the process and healing. It will start out looking like each wound like having a yellowish center with a reddened edge. This will slowly heal as the wound heals. There will be minimal bleeding with it. It takes about 4-6 weeks for the wounds to completely heal, maybe a shorter time since your wounds should be smaller. There are no stitches because the tissue is essentially cauterized.
Has anyone else had this procedure? What was your experience with it?
