Hi Shorty, I think that it might be a good idea for you to wait at least three weeks before you drink soda if not an entire month. How long has it been since you got your surgery? At the very least, check with your doctor to see if it's okay to do now. I understand fully because I am IN LOVE with soda and since trying to put on weight and gain muscle I have laid off it but you know it can affect your recovery so be careful.

I imagine that drinking McD's sweet iced tea should be fine since it's essentially the same composition as iced tea. Since today's your appointment, can you let me know how it goes for you?

I figured that was you! Thanks for keeping me updated. I'd like to hear what he says just because I think it should be okay within the timeframe that was put together but I'd like to know for sure. Thanks!

I'm so glad to hear that you're doing well! It's good to know that you've finally come up to the end of all the difficulty and recuperation and all that. Let me know how your first soda goes. I hope it's not painful :O

So we're no supposed to have soda? I've been drinking it my whole surgery time O_O the doctors never stopped me either, nor have they told me I couldn't drink it. Should I stop now since it is day 3 of my operation? I just turne 15 a month ago and this surgery placed me in more pain than my stomach surgery. My meds aren't working and mom keeps telling me that coughing is normal, fever is normal, this/that is normal. I woke up this morning nearly choking on my own saliva! Is that normal too?

I had a Tonsillectomy 6 days ago. I can't eat anything without throwing it back up. I've tried applesauce, macaroni and soup and it will not stay down. I am starving and water doesnt help anything. Also I'm craving soda. How long til I should be able to drink soda without it hurting

I am 24 years old and on day 5....surprisingly I havent been miserable. Keep up on your meds and you will be fine! I got extremely ill on day 3 but it was because my body was having a horrible reaction to the hydrocodone. If you feel sick and cant stop puking try having your doctor put you on 600mg of ibruprofin.... It works ALOT better and doesnt make you sick to your stomach!

Hi there! I'm not sure if you need this anymore, but this is mainly for the people who are reading this thread in hope for new information. Ok, so I admit, my tonsillectomy doctor told me, "No soda! The carbonation will hurt your throat." I faced my horrible fear of not having soda and agreed with him. When I was feeling REALLY bad, I decided to go to the hospital. They of course made me feel way better, but my point is they gave me a can of Coca-Cola Zero. It was extremely delish! It felt SO good on my throat and in my really empty stomach. I would consult the doctor if he/she would recommend it first, though. Anyway, that was on Day 6. I would try it if your doctor is ok with it, but if it burns, I would stop. Thank you for reading this long story!

Well I have ten other people saying its okay to drink soda after day 10 if the scabs have fallen off, I mean I'm sure that person is able to drink it now considering its been over a year since they've gotten the surgery.. I'm in day 7 craving soda soooo bad I honestly cry cause I cant drink it (weirdo).. but ya on day 10 if the scabs have fallen off I'm taking a sip and praying its okay to finish.. well soon enough.
