I am 13 years old and weigh 126 pounds. I am 5`5. I want to lose weight before graduation at the end of the year. A lot of the girls in my school are skinny.

Hello I used to be overweight as a teenager, so know how you feel, but saying that you are still growing, to go on a very restrictive diet would not be good for you.

Perhaps you could go to your doctor and ask his advice, or school nurse, it really is alright to ask, they are used to giving advice and they would be better to advise you.

Please do not cut down too much it’s not good for you. Perhaps you can get advice and then follow a healthy eating plan.

I don’t know of course what you like to eat, or eat, but perhaps you could just cut from full fat milk, to semi or skimmed. Maybe you could eat more fruit and vegetables instead of things like cake and biscuits and eat 3 meals a day and say 2 or three healthy snacks. To cut back too much would not be good for you. You can lose weight by eating quite a bit, but just cut down on things like biscuits, cakes, sweets and chocolate. Eat Rice, Pasta, potatoes rather than chips. I don’t like giving advice to a 13 year old, it seems wrong but don’t want you to cut down too much it’s not good for you. You will look great being just you, your nearest and dearest and friends like you for you. Please don’t cut down too much just a bit and swop maybe little things around.
