A friend of mine has been prescribed indocin for gout. I am a bit worried about him because I have heard that indocin has some terrible side effects, or can potentially have them, at least. Do you think that he should continue the indocin? Or are there other drugs that might be better, without the potential side effects?
To be honest, I think that dietary changes can do much more to improve gout than any drug can. Indeed, someone following a very strict low purine diet can make gout totally disappear in some cases. I am hoping you'll read up on this - google "low purine diet" and you will see which foods are beneficial for gout sufferers, and which ones make the gout worse. Good luck!
