Just got back from the pedi and I am in tears. My daughter is a yr old and weighs only 14 lbs. Dr wants her tested for cystic fibrosis tomorrow. Am I jumping the gun here by being upset? Mother in law is blaming me, says reason baby is sick is because i had her when i was 42 yrs old. I can't stop crying. Baby is healthy and full of energy, she shows no sign of illness or of being sick. She does get constipated at times, but she don't act like it bothers her. She is so playful and happy all the time. I am so sad. Baby is finicky eater, sometimes eats well when i get home from work; but during day husband says she don't want to eat.

Oh no, stop crying because your mother in law thinks that she has right to tell you something like that! Anyway they think that we are not good enough for their sons so there is no point in trying to make them happy. I think that you are brave because having baby in age of 42 is risking of your own life for new one so stop crying and save your energy for your baby.

You must be aware that every baby is different and that some milestones which experts have determined some babies just can’t reach but this doesn’t mean that something is wrong with them.

If your baby doesn’t look like it is sick than probably it isn’t so try to relax and wait for that testing tomorrow. When you have more information you will have fewer reasons to think negative. Let us know what has happened.
