My daughter had these same reactions when taking iron supplements. Red hands, face, scalp, even her feet. We switched to a synthetic iron supplement called Poly-Iron 150 and she is able to tolerate it. No reactions. It helped boost her feritin.

We also learned about dietary nickel allergies, and we thought it was also an issue. However, after testing it was not a problem. So we think she has a dietary iron allergy. Unfortunately we can't find a doctor who can test for iron allergies. The patch testing doesn't include iron, just other metals.

I too suffer from an iron allergy, it's gotten so bad I'm now allergic to Venofer. My oncologist is getting concerned. I found out I have to have a contrasting MRI which has iron in it. I'm trying to find out what other products have a form of iron in them. Like dental work.

Hello, I am to very allergic to iron pills. With low hemoglobins I take one folic acid pill, one potassium pill and one vitamin k2 pill every 3rd day together. Then the next day I take one vitamin b12. And its been helping me. Cause I am so supper sensitive to lots of medications. Just make sure if you take vitamin k2 you dont drink alcohol or other medications that may interfer with
it. Cause folic acid is helpful for anemia. Hopefully it may help someone else out to. Just make sure your not allergic to any of these first.

I was told was very low in iron so I of course was told to take an iron pill. then 2 mother later my tests showed my levels were fine to come off tbem. While taking then I had s swollen tonge, and passed out twice from being to constipated, vry scary, also had itchy hand snd mouth. So I went back to do tors for blood text and iron levels were low again, showing I am anemic, so was told to go back on iron pills. I took then the first day and threw up for 6 hours straight, next day took it again felt nacious, has a swollen tonge and was so k to my stomach, next day I threw up again for hours, next day had to go to the bathroom for 8 hours, couldn't leave the house, so I cant take pills, I gave up. Do tor is sending me to hemotologist for injection I think, but got pneumonia, so had to put it off for 2 more weeks. I have a painful tongue with no sores now and it wont go away, I eas told it's due to being anemic, so strange, nothing they can due to help that. So this has been tertible, hoping hemotologist can help
