It's just shy of 9 k and hilly, and my longest (flat) run is 7k. It's an absolutely beautiful route, and I just want to do it NOW! I figure if I have to walk part of it it's not the end of the world, and gives me a goal to improve on next time. Is this OK? Acceptable?

7K to a 9K is not a very big step actually. I think you'll be just fine! Just stretch well, and slow down your pace a bit. ENJOY!!!
Edit: People who don't enjoy hills are crazy - hills are beautiful!

Go for it! The excitement of the race will carry you a long way. Plus, as you said, if you have to walk, who cares? It's your race, as long as you're enjoying it, that's all that matters.

Absolutely!!! Can you bump your long run up any before the race, just so you'll feel better? Even still, just go have fun.

I love hills as well.
Shannon, 2k increase is not that much. The adrenaline of the race should carry through. Best of Luck

Well, I did it and it turned out to be not 9k but 8 on the the nose, so it was really no big deal. Gorgeous run through the Okanagan orchards. It wasn't a race, just a route I had mapped out in my mind. There was one hill I had to walk up (like 1/4 mile long, 9% grade) but other than that I ran, baby!
