I live in a very hilly area. It is very difficult for me to find a flat course to do any easy runs at all. Most of the courses have rolling and large hills.
My old house had some courses that could be flat if I picked different streets.

I live in a very hilly areaa too, the peak district in England. This area has a strong tradition of 'fell running', running off-road over a series of large hills or mountains.
I sympathise, that it is very difficult to get an easy run and owning a HRM is a waste time because it is impossible to keep your heart rate within the 'easy zone'.
The good news is that you will be much stronger than competitors that train predominently in flat areas. If you want an easy run, do what I do and just go for a very short one e.g. a couple of miles or 15 minutes.

I really thought a HRM was going to help my running when I first got it. Dang thing is almost useless for running. Where I live, it's either up or down and a 'flat' area is a rare occurrence.

However, Dell Rapids is located right on the Big Sioux River (and no, it's not very big either), anyway For about 10 miles in any direction from here it's pretty darn hilly, with 2 or 3 significant hills in each mile. There is a flatter route around the town that I use for some easy running, but had a few friends run on it and they were freaking out about how hilly it was.

I live smack in the middle of Wisconsin's Kettle Moraine. If you don't know what that means, look it up - it's hilly. Every direction I go from my house I encounter hills. Years ago I would have hated this, but I have grown to enjoy running the hills. I actually search out more hilly races. They just seem more interesting to me.

What jrjo said. I still don't like hills and won't deliberately search out hilly races, but the course I run around work is pretty hilly and I do like it.
The two trails which are my favorite are flat, the area around my neighborhood is half and half, so I have a good mix too. I race in the Lehigh Valley a fair amount, which is ALL hills.....so I do have to train on them to mix it up.

Hard to avoid them where I live. Hence the name Sharon Hill

Well now I live in Flatsville... Tampa FL and while it is kind of nice to not have a single strain on a run, I know I am really missing out. I just moved from Cincinnati, where there were more hills than flats and I couldn't get a flat run in unless I went to certain parks or the bike trail. Most of my runs were a nice mix though.
So now...I'm doing the Flying Pig 4-person relay on May 4th and I'm very worried about the hills!! I'm not sure which leg I'm running yet, but I'm sure my team wants to stick me with the hardest since I've been the lucky one with good, warm, sunny weather to run in and they're jealous! 8)
In the meantime, I hope to find A hill somewhere down here to help with my confidence and try more strength training on my quads, hamstrings and core. I just want the race to be fun, not a OH MY GOSH THE HILLS!!!

C'mon now Steph, the highest point in Florida is 345 feet above sea level! That's a hill!
As for running hills down here, try the bridges. Gandy or Sand Key, which is over by Clearwater beach.

thanks for the hill location tip- Shwoo! I thought I was going to have to start running the hill in my apartment complex over and over. I think it's about 6 feet long and changes about a foot in elevation
Where is Sand Key- is it one of the bridges that takes you to Clearwater beach? I know the Gandy bridge is the one south of 275.
