Hello! My friend went to visit the eye doctor yesterday since he had some problems with his eye sight. His doctor said he suffers from myopia in his left eye and hyperopia in his right eye. How is this possible? I always thought that both eyes are either myopic or hyperopic. Maybe his doctor made a mistake. Maybe my friend is a special case. Is it common to suffer from hyperopia and myopia in both eyes?

Hello! Yes it is possible. My sister has -1, 5 on her left eye and +1, 0 on her right eye. It is of course not that common but it is possible and there are many people who are diagnosed hyperopia and myopia in both eyes. My sister’s glasses are made according her diopters and they correct her both eyes. She has no problem with it and she got used to her glasses very quickly. So, your friend is not the only one. He should talk to his eye doctor what is the best for his eyes and he will be just fine.
