Hello everyone. I have one really important question. I mean, it is important for me. I was diagnosed with anxiety, but it is a little bit "lighter" shape of it. At least, my doctor told me so. We are keeping it under the control, but I am scared that this can become more serious. I was reading some posts at this site, because I found it as best site that I visit recently and somehow I have this conclusion that anxiety doesn't necessary needs to be healed. Is it true that anxiety can last forever? I mean, until the end of person’s life?

Anxiety can be dangerous in some cases. Anxiety can come up pretty much out of anything that is bothersome to you and it can happen to everyone. And I also have heard those stories that anxiety can last forever, but believe me, it DOES NOT last forever. Anxiety is actually pretty easy to treat in a number of ways and yes, I do understand that you think that this is not possible but it is. You just need to find a way, good doctor and trust me, you will deal with this anxiety like it was nothing. Don't be fooled by the stories. Don't be scared.

Yes, I can see this. But I also asked a lot of people about this and they told me exactly the same thing - that in some rare cases there is a possibility that depression can last forever, until the end of depressed persons life so I was really scared about this whole issue. I didn't know what to think, and while I was reading some comments I understand that this is true as well, but maybe I didn't read from reputable sources. Maybe in here people were saying that anxiety can came back in person's life, right? Trust me I am so scared and confused about this whole situation...

Maybe you didn't understand well. Yes, anxiety can be back but it can't last for life. You need to know that anxiety issues are not always mental in nature, they can actually be caused or exacerbated by nutrition. So, about that, you also need to know that certain foods that we eat can literally cause anxiety or predispose to it more readily and you should consider that as well.

There are so many ways to fight anxiety and choosing the proper food is one of them. So, you really should try to talk to someone who knows more than me about this.

What do you mean, it can't last forever? Of course it can, if you continue living your life in the same way you have lived your life so far. Anxiety can be treated if you start seeing a psychologist who is going to tell you what to do, including relaxation techniques for anxiety or even medications if you change your diet to a healthy one and if you start exercising, basically, changing your lifestyle. However, if you just leave all the things as they are, if you are not going to do anything about your anxiety, you are most likely to stay in this condition and not get rid of anxiety.

Anxiety can last for a really long period of time if left untreated, it can last for ages, but it can't really last forever, or until you die. At some point in your life, it is just going to vanish. But like I said, if left untreated, it can indeed last for years and you don't want to just surrender a few years of your life to anxiety, which you would maybe live in happiness and joy if it wasn't for anxiety. This is why I recommend to everyone suffering from anxiety to do whatever they can to overcome this condition.

A friend of mine was suffering from anxiety for one year straight. After some time he decided to talk to a psychologist because he really wanted to snap out of it. However, he told me that this psychologist only made him feel even worse so he eventually stopped going there. He took the things into his own hands and it took him a couple of months to get over his condition.

I agree with what Nina said, if you leave it untreated, it can certainly last for a long period of time. Not for a lifetime though, I don't think so either.

I have anxiety and it has been like this for the past 2 and a half years. I tried taking medications but nothing really seemed to help, I changed a lot of medications in the meantime. I tried using different kind of teas but I got to a conclusion that this is just me, that this is probably never going to change so I somehow learned to live with it (people say that you can't possibly learn to live with anxiety and it is true, but you can somehow get used to it in the meantime I suppose). So I believe it can last for a pretty long time, that's for sure.
