3 weeks ago, I had Covid. Three days ago, I started spotting and it is now a light period-with cramping and all. I haven't had a period since 2017.  While reading online, I have seen several articles about women reporting post menopausal periods post infection or vaccine.  I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Some women have reported changes to their menstrual cycles after COVID-19 infection or vaccination. These changes have included heavier or lighter periods, changes in period duration, or spotting between periods.

Several factors could potentially contribute to these changes:

  1. Immune Response: The body's immune response to infections or vaccines can sometimes have systemic effects, which might include influencing the menstrual cycle.
  2. Stress: COVID-19 infection can be a physically and emotionally stressful experience. Stress, whether it's physical or emotional, can impact menstrual cycles.
  3. Other Physiological Factors: Illness, medications, and changes in daily habits or routines can influence menstrual cycles.

For women in menopause, any vaginal bleeding is typically a cause for medical evaluation, as bleeding after menopause isn't expected and can sometimes be a sign of other health issues.

Research on COVID-19 is ongoing, and more insights into its long-term effects and its impact on various physiological systems will likely emerge over time. Always consult with a medical professional about any health concerns or unexpected symptoms.
