You're not getting the fiber that way. Just east the oranges.
I don't think you'll keel over and die from drinking apple (or any kind) juice, but it is about as equivalent to eating an apple as eating carrot cake is like eating a carrot. I think of it as junk food.
You'd be smart to eat the carrot immediately AFTER the run, as it is a very high glycemic index food. That's what you want after a long or hard run or race: high glycemic index carbohydrates. But during a run, fruit juice or Gatorade is a poor choice. But don't take it from me, simply go out and read the best sports nutrition books out there, by guys like Burke or Benardot.

Hey, guess what? NO ONE can digest fiber; that's why it's called "fiber"! Now, that said, do you have a bowel condition?

i would say yes. juice can provide some vitamins too -- i mean it isn't completely HI-C
i've always considered it too calorie dense and sugary for me and my kids.
i just heard a dietician on TV say 4 ounces of juice a day is about all she would recommend, but again that isn't considering special dietary needs, such as yours. she endorsed juice specifically for its vitamin content, yes; especially organic juice which is very expensive.
Dietician? What, they study sports nutrition? Not many (if any). Read and listen to PhD sports nutritionists instead. It isn't just about WHAT to eat; it's about WHEN and HOW MUCH. Way too complicated for a discussion board. Juice can be great, but never during a run or just before. After is the best time. But not too soon after, depending on the juice's glycemic index.

Can someone name some sort of drink that I coculd use as fuel for long runs? I did just fine doing 13 miles on OJ since I was sick of chugging gatorade. I've heard that is good for endurance sports, but I have the feeling that is BS because its extremely processed and sugary...and to think I enjoy running for it's simplicity... :?
