I was prescribed Klonopin in 2000. I had the worst panic attacks. It was awful and I was to the point I would not even leave my room. After 2 years I saw a doctor and was put on Klonopin. My dose was originally at 0.5 mg 4 times a day. After a year or so I was increased to 1 mg 4 times a day. In May 2007 I found out I was pregnant and tapered myself to 0.5 mg once daily! I have since then had my first child and continued to taper my medications on my own. I now take 0.5 mg as needed which is usually only once or twice a week. However I am to the point where I no longer want to take the medication. Does anyone know if it is safe to just stop taking it if I have lowered myself that low????
I'm not a doctor, but I'd suggest talking to the one prescribing. Also having just weened to the 0.5mg once a day dosage, and these past 60 plus hours since the last dose, I'd say you are probably ok, but go talk to your doctor. It's important that they know what is going on with us as we take or don't take these meds. 8)
