Hi, - any experts on knees out there? I have been suffering from a bad knee for the last 10 months or so, however with difference to most it is helped by running. I was told by a gait test in the Nike shop that my running pace is a perfect neutral stride. My knee started hurting after sitting at my computer which was on the floor so I was sitting cross legged for long periods. Now when ever I get up from sitting I can not walk on my right knee - going downstairs also is a problem. When I run after the first Km it eases up and no problems as long as the ground is flat, however it is weak and if I don't take care it collapses backwards - which hurts a lot and leaves me limping for a while. The pain is on the outside under side of the kneecap which is a bit swollen generally. I run up to 10 miles on and off road. Movement of that knee is restricted - I can only lift that foot backwards about half the other - but as I said it doesn't generally bother me running unless it collapses...ouch. I do get funny looks when I set out for a run limping, however after a km or so I'm good. It is more of a problem though off road - I live by a national park so like to go off road, but that's more of a problem for collapsing.
Does anyone have any ideas of what it is or how to improve it?
thanks in advance. Anyone had something similar? Most knee stories seem to get worse during a run, however this is reverse.
cheers
