Hi everyone,
I need some help. If I wanted to write you a few months back, I would have cried my eyes out and told you how my life is hard, how everyone hates me and how I hate everyone because of it. I was in a really bad mood, I was so depressed and my life was falling apart. Now, after several months of talking with people who were depressed as I was and taking these lexapro medications, I got better and I can proudly say that I won my fight with depression. The only bad thing is that I gained a lot, and I mean, a lot of weight. Is this because of this medication maybe, is there any advice on how to get rid of this weight now?
Hi Guest,
I'm glad that you got out of that box. As I always say, the hardest fight of all in life is the one when you are battling yourself. I'm afraid that more people lose there than they win, luckily for you, you won. I mean, not luckily, it sure takes a lot of courage and a big will for living to overcome depression.
All people react differently to medications, but you should usually lose weight if you are using lexapro rather than gain weight. But like I said, a lot of people react differently so this just might be the case with you.
Thank you, it wasn't easy but I managed to get out of that state of mind.
There is no other reason for my weight gain, I thought about it and lexapro seems to be the only possible thing causing me to gain weight. I never ate too much, I do a bit of exercise every day, basically, I didn't change my lifestyle in any way in order for me to gain weight now. The only thing I've changed is that I started using this lexapro and it seems to me that it is the responsible one, I don't know about other people.
I understand what you are trying to tell me Guest, but you need to look at how this medication affected other people in order to see how it might affect you, you can't make conclusions based on how it affected only one person.
Regarding how it affected other people, gaining weight is not one of this medication's side effects. Losing weight and loss of appetite are its side effects but weight gain isn't. Like I said, it is always possible that a medication would have different effects on different people but to be honest, I don't think that your weight gain is caused by lexapro.
It is just like Gaia said, lexapro is not known for causing someone to gain weight. I've seen people talk about it on the internet, and there were a few more cases where they were complaining about how they got additional weight since they have started using lexapro. Now, I don't know if this is indeed true for them or there was something else that caused them to gain weight, but since there are more cases like yours, it is likely that lexapro is responsible for the weight gain. Not very likely, but it makes the odds bigger for it to be true.
Hello there.
I am really glad that you beat that depression. It is very hard to beat, but it looks like that you had an amazing will for this. A lot of people just can't deal with it and they can't beat the depression. I always say that it is not shame to use pills, but some people refuse to use it. Now, look...it is possible that you gained a lot of weight because you were using lexapro, but a lot of people react totally differently on the pills. I don't know, but you should definitely consult someone who is an expert.
Hey there. First of all, I am very glad because you are done with it. It can be very hard and difficult but since you have won this game, you are the best. Trust me, it is hard to deal with it.
Now, I will try to answer your question. I don't believe that Lexapro caused a weight gain in your case. I think that those pills don't have such side - effects. Of course, everyone's body react differently but I believe that you got fat because of the depression. People in depression usually eat a lot. I believe that this is the thing.
