Can relate to you, my 5 year old Westie was told had Addison's about 7 months ago. Molly was put on steroids and her weight went from 20 to 34 pounds, and lays around all day, and a very picky eating. Watching her diet, but doesn't seem to matter. Having a hard time getting around now, at a loss what to do. She doesn't appear to be in pain and still very loveable,

I just lost my dog to Delilah to Addison's disease. She was diagnosed in 2011 and lived for an additional 6 years. She was very happy and it wasn't until the last month she got sluggish and the meds seemed to stop working and also I believe it created other health issues. Which eventually took her life.

Hello, my chihuahua was diagnosed with Addison’s Disease in 2011 after having a crisis and almost dying. She lived to be 15 which was 6 years after her diagnosis. Her monthly treatment was a DOCP injection at the vet every 25 days and a daily dose of prednisone.

Hi ,my dog Rex miniature pincher 12lbs was diagnosed with Addison when he was 5 years old thanks to good Vet he recover quite fast he is on Percorten-V 0,4 mg. injection every 30 days and every second day 1 mg. Prednisone and every year blood tests so far 6 years later he is doing very good and he is on same dosage since diagnosed but I’m noticing lately he slow down and sleeps match often but overall he still is full of energy chasing squirrels I hope he will stay with me couple more years.I believe the very important with Addison is to keep your dog weight to norm for your type of breed bc lean body response better for treatment.

Luckyblu17, This is a very tough disease to find a balance, I’ve got a 5 ur old Siberian husky that was diagnosed in July 17, she had also gone into crises, it took us 8 mos to find her regimen, I still to this day pray daily for her, she’s still by far no where, where she was before her sickness, so I continually give her the meds she needs & I keep a close eye on her, she just acts much older then she really is

A lot of people keep using the word “cure” unfortunately there is no cure for Addison’s but with proper medication and regular check up it can be managed and fur babies can live a happy life

My dog was diagnosed with Addison just the other day. Bloodwork doesn't always show any abnormalities if your dog has the non-standard form. The life expectancy varies of course but it seems to be promising according from what I read. ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** posting of web addresses is not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use It's important to diagnose this quickly befte things progress and risk ending in hospitalization and complications.

My dog jusy passed from addisons shock over the weekend. From being happy plahing at the beach to dead in 48 hours.

He would be weak and lazy sometimes but then later the same day a normal puppy. We should have been more vigilant. :(

The vets had no idea what was wrong until he had a shock and dies of a heart attack. They kept thinking he just needed an IV and some rest.

I keep wondering if I insisted on blood work they may have caught it earlier and he could have lived. He was a pom-chi very small only 2kgs. I can't help wondering how quality his life would have been with the hormone treatment for such a little guy.

My poor bruno...
