Piercing has become extremely popular over the past few years and there are many parts of the body that can be pierced. Many youngsters who decide to get their bodies pierced aren’t even aware of the possible consequences.

Unfortunately, Daniel Hindle from Sheffield, experienced the worst possible consequence. He died only 2 months after having his lip pierced. He was admitted to a hospital after vomiting and developed a raging fever. Unfortunately, doctors couldn’t do anything to save him.

This unfortunate case should rise consciousness about the possible side effects of piercing especially to those people who are vulnerable to infection, because of a heart condition or any other reason. Unsteril instruments and unhygienic conditions are an open invitation to bacteria that can make such a mess.

Even if you decide to have your body pierced make sure you do it at legitimate and clean saloons and shops.

jane seemed to give many examples of her opinions on the dangers of body piercings, but the story wasn't even backed up by any facts or good reason to believe that the guy died as a direct cause of the lip piercing. basically a, "dude got his lip pierced and died two months later.". this guy i know died about a week after he got his hair cut. maybe you should reconsider trimming those locks next time you feel you're looking a little shabby.

na, i'm sorry. just trying to make light of this situation. jane's right about people not being aware of consequences of piercings. many people are misinformed and ignorant to proper care techniques and side effects of any body piercing.

i don't think you're going to directly die from any piercing unless you screw up and pierce an artery. otherwise, the worst you need to worry about is nerve damage or infection. take care of your piercing with antibacterial soaps, and oral piercings with salt water solutions to avoid the risk of infection. if infection occurs, take your piercing out and let it heal, you can always try for the piercing again. it's not worth gangrene and loss of a chunk of your meat. never clean your piercings with alcohol or peroxide. never use ointments such as neosporin, bacitracin or bactine on a fresh piercing, as these products irritate the wound and slow the healing process (they can also be causes of infection). so yeah... there's that. i've had facial and surface piercings all over myself since i was 13 and i'm now 22. i've only had two infected piercings and those were my fault resulting from negligence during aftercare.
