Hi everyone, well, here's my story. Bonfire night 2010, climbed up onto kitchen worktops to get something off the top of the cupboard, jumped down like i usually do and it happened. I knew straight away that i'd done something really bad, the pain was the worst thing i'd ever felt before. Anyway, went to the hospital and was addmitted, the doctor i saw could not locate my pulse in my right foot and told me there was a possibility that i could lose my foot. He seemed really concerned and told me to wiggle my toes as much as i could. The swelling was massive and i just wiggled my toes which did not cause me any pain at all, by this time i was on regular pain killers. After staying in hospital for 3 days they did a mri scan on my foot. I was told that if i needed an operation they would get in touch with me and the surgery would be on the friday. Luckly no body got in touch so i was confined to foot above heart at all times, also non weight bearing. After 2 weeks in back slab, 6 weeks in cast and then further 6 weeks in removable cast, partial weight bearing only i went back to the hospital. The doctor i saw was not the doctor who i'd seen previously, he looked at me, my face, not my foot and said how long have you had that on for now. I told him 3 months and he replied oh, i think you should try and walk on it now. That was it, i asked if he wanted to see my foot and what about the mri scan, he replied oh, did you have one of those, he got my foot on the computer screen and then drew onto the screen where if i was to have an operation that would be where they would put the screws, then telling me that this injury results in surgery. Well, i was not a happy bunny when i limped out of there. I was told i had to go back in 3 weeks when the consultant was back. Well, have been back to see consultant and he did xrays, asked how i was, told me i'm doing well and he'll see me in 4 months. I asked if i needed an opeartion and he asked me if i wanted one. I replied, I just want my foot to get better. Pain in foot seems to be getting worse not better. No physio, well, he told me to tred water and go cycling. All i want to do is chase my daughter like i use to. I was once the tickle monster. Anybody know where i can go from here.

You need to be more forthcoming with your doctors. You have been non-weight bearing/partial weight bearing for 3 months and all he could tell you was "good"? If you're in pain and unable to bear full weight 3 months after injury, YOU PROBABLY NEED SURGERY.
