just to let you know, about the light, so far, I really can't tell, especially because I'm not doing anything to cause my foot much pain to begin with, it's really funny because right when I finished doing it yesterday the tv changed to the segment on hot and cold therapy, suggesting to use cold after heat, which would kinda make sense, actually when you take a cool shower it makes you feel warm when you get out kinda thing. I felt like I was aware of the numbness on the bottom of my foot more after the light so I might try that.

Yay , you are half way there ( maybe even more ) depending on what you dr decides. Some people say they did leg lifts to keep there legs strong since it doesn't move your foot a lot I think it's ok. I did it some about six weeks in because that's when I read it. I wasn't doing it enough though just when I thought of it. The lady said she did it every night while watching tv. I managed a lot yesterday went to work and then walked all around the mall. My foot did fine. The only time my foot really hurts my first few steps in the morning or after sitting awhile. I think I'm limping less. Doing some much over do cleaning now. Never thought I'd be happy to clean. I think you are going to great without the surgery. I think my lesson was to pay more attention. I missed steps going down the stairs. I was looking at my daughter shirt I needed to spray before throwing in the washer and missed the last two or three steps. Hopefully I learned my lesson. I also learned to appreciate the stupid little things I was missing the last few months.

8 weeks today. Confirmed from ortho last tuesday that in was non-bearing Lisfranc sprain with potential micro fracture.

Injured on 9/27/14. Thought it wasn't a big deal. Waited a week to get x-rays. Came back negative. Continued to walk around on it. Even went kiteboarding 3 times and sailboat racing twice. Had sharp pain with certain movements kiteboarding, but enjoyed myself. Started PT in my second week. Many maniuplations and unuseful treatment. 4 weeks I recieved diagnostic ultrasound. Partial tear in tarsometatarsal was found as well as potential microfracture. The ligament tear could not have been Lisfranc becasue he was scanning top of my foot. 5 weeks had an MRI. Diagnosis was lisfranc with microfracture. 6.5 weeks saw an Ortho. Confirmed lisfranc and had WB x-ray done. Said no displacement and put me in a boot for four weeks.

Im concerned about potential damage done before diagnosis. Also when I stand on both feet my big toe has more seperation between it and my first toe compared to my uninjured foot. Im a very active person and this injury is really scaring me. Will the ligament heal and reduce the minimal displacment? Was it crutial for me to be in a boot immediately after the injury?

Non-displaced* Lisfranc sprain

I'm not sure mine was displaced . I'm no doctor but I think you will be ok if you give it the time to heal now. I was in unbearable pain immediatly after my injury and went to ER right away but I'm sure with a sprain a lot of people don't know right away. Sorry I'm not more helpful. I will say mine was dislocated and u didn't do surgery and I think I'm healing good. I know the more you read the more you might get worried. So try not stress and follow dr orders and don't push yourself. I think the key is resting and giving it time to heal.

Oh my gosh Jeanette, that's exactly how I hurt my foot! I came down the stairs in the dark and thought I was at the bottom because I stepped off to the right where the rail had ended I missed like 2 stairs. I was lucky I didn't crack my head! I am really thrilled at your progress but I'm wondering if my separation is worse but I still feel optimistic! I think one of my lessons might be to connect more to people, I have a tendency to be a hermit because I'm very aware of the, mmm, how you say, Presence.

Wow , funny we have so much in common . Well today I went to a fall festival and I was on my feet for like two hours. I'm really amazed still no swelling or pain. I dont even have my insoles yet and they are suppose to help a lot. So I'm not really sure about the whole comparing your good foot works. I was thinking your dislocation was less than mine and was 1.8 but is is 3.2? That prolotherepy sounded interesting . I looked it up from the site you posted. I do think I heard someone saying the got stem cell injections but I didn't realize that was the same thing. That definitely sounds better than surgery. Going back and retreading some of my posts I noticed all my typos . Hope you could guess what I meant. I always use my phone instead of computer so it's small and freezes up so I don't always proof read before I send. Well I never do so hope it makes enough sense .

Yes, the total separation is 3.2 the surgeon said but than he said my good foot was 1.4 and that it was 1.8mm more than the good foot, so I guess I just ran with the smaller number. That is more than twice as big as the right but the xray looks so benign . . 0: I showed my xray to a chiropractor and he said he wouldn't get surgery for that. It just seems compared to the pain, bruising and swelling of some people mine isn't too bad. I don't really pay attention to typos and when I have my contacts in I make more typos because the near vision gets blurry. For some reason I can't register to this blog though so I don't get any notifications. I have to say my toes are still slightly bigger than my other toes specially the big toe. Still waiting for the compression sock. Oh I also saw this website with many xrays of people with worse separation than mine who recovered without surgery. The ones that still had discomfort said it wasn't enough to make them want to get fusion. It really seems like way more bad stories of surgery compared to nonsurgery except for the surgeons who really specialize in it. I have no idea what my surgeon is gonna say on the 24th, my plan is to start slowly just putting some weight on my heel maybe about 7-8wks and then try FWB at 12wk, but my Dr might say before that. Yeah, to me the plasma injection thing seems like a more natural healing process for ligaments than cutting into the foot. In fact, they use lidocaine and I saw this study that when sport injuries were injected with xylocaine the healing outcome was better. Well, I guess you'll be walking around today, me, I think I'll scoot upstairs (on my butt). haha!

I just want to say Pete, annoyed that they sent you to PT without a weightbearing xray! but this is often misdiagnosed. Don't think that was helpful at all! That should have been the first xray. (maybe you did have that first). This injury is so individual but when there's a will there's a way. If you don't have displacement you just have to worry about the ligament healing. For me supposedly its the arthritis down the road. That facebook Lisfrancfracture club has a lot of info. most of those people have surgery but there are some who haven't. Since you're very active I think maybe you need to realize you're just in a situation for awhile where you will have to avoid causing pain to your foot. Ligaments just take a long time to heal. At least 3 mos. some people say.

I think if you really needed surgery they would of made a bigger deal about you getting it done. I would try that prolotherpy before surgery if you end up needing something. My limp is getting better. I haven't had sweeling in a long time but when I got home from shopping yesterday my ankle was pretty swollen. It was better in the morning. Lastnight I feel asleep with a hair tie on my arm which I have done many times before but this morning I had a big bruise on my arm for it. I thought that was weird . Not sure if I'm having a circulation issues or something . It could be completely unrealated . Today after work my foot was sore but I went everywhere this weekend and didn't rest at all so I'm pretty doing to much lately. I don't run or exercise but I'm active as far hardly even being home . We are always out and about and I've been so excited to get back to life as normal I may be over doing it some. But all is still pretty good. 10 wks and one day today.

The compression sock feels good! It's kinda light compression so I ordered a tighter one. Wish I had gotten that earlier! In 2-3wks when my face is "go outable" perhaps I'll set up a consult with that Dr who does prolotherapy if I feel antsy. That's odd about your bruise, when I take D3 I also take K2 because it helps with calcium absorption, I believe it helps with brusing too. Thursday will be 5 weeks and I get the stitches out of my face. You always cheer me up! Thanks and put your feet up! :)

Awe, thanks . I think when you go on the 24 th they will X-ray it and say its healing good. I'm sure you will be walking pain free soon. Hope everything goes go with your other surgery too. Atleast with that you don't have to worry about the outcome. When it's done you know what to expect. The waiting with this is scary. You worry you are going through all this and don't know if it will be over or you will need surgery and have to start again. Atleast I did but it really went better than I thought. Reading stuff on line is scary but maybe most of the people that post are the people that are having complications and the people that everything went fine are just out living life. I will be praying for you and I know you will have a great outcome.

Hi Jeanette, so far my joint is stable and I'm to stay in the boot and slowly add weight for 6 wks and then go back. Not full weightbearing. The P.A. said it was normal for the forefoot, toes to be swollen for 3-4mos. I don't have much pain but haven't really been testing my foot yet just enough pressure for balance. Oh yeah, and it looks like my MOH's surgeon was pretty skilled and when the area's healed I don't think it will be very noticeable at all. Hope you're doing well!

That is great news. Wow you don't go back for six weeks . I went much more that you have to. That's great you can start putting so weight on it. So can you not put full weight for the whole six weeks. I was doing full weight in less than two weeks. ( well in the boot, anyway) I guess that's not full weight. Hopefully that's all they mean it would be hard to take that long to be walking. I'm glad all is well and your other surgery is healing good too. I'm doing good living life pretty normal. I'm still walking with a limp so days are better than others . Still not really painful but gets sore at times. Still waiting on my insoles so still using the brace. I can be on my foot all day and it doesn't really swell or hurt . It hurts the most with my first few steps in the morning. Still glad I didn't do the surgery . If I can start to walk without this limp I will be thrilled. I'm not really resting cuz I don't think I can make the injury worse at this point . If I over do it I think I will just be sore. I'm not lifting anything heavy , or bending over a lot since the Dr. Told me not to do those things . So glad all is good with you. It will feel weird when you first start stepping down . Expect a lot of tingling .
