I was just released from the hospital. Low functioning gallbladder. They said mine is functioning at 11%. My doc said he was'nt going to take it out yet. I have to watch my diet. I don't have alot of pain or nausea, just alot of gas. I hope it's not dangerous to leave it in. I'm the biggest chicken in the world and I'm VERY scared to have surgery.

I too experience the nausea, pain under rib cage on my right side back and shoulder, almost every day. Ultrasound has shown I have tonnes of gallstones, but dr said my gallbladder didnt look sick and tried to tell me this pain is due to reflux. I have since had a Hida scan done, and awaiting my dr to recieve the results. They only completed 1 hour into the scan and then a dr on staff at the hospital told them not to continue the scan, they then moved the machine and took 5 minutes of pictures from my right side. Since then when I put pressure under the right side of my rib cage, it causes a sensation that makes me feel sick. Only once have I had a traditional ATTACK after eating a bowl of Icecream (causing extreme pain).

I thaught I was going crazy when I thaught I noticed a connection with my period...feeling more gallbladder pain on the days leading to my period

I have been sick for almost 4 years with gallbladder problems and the have been misdiagnosed as ulcers, celiacs, and several other things. It is very upsetting that I have been in pain this long. I finally went to a resident at the hospital and told her that I thought it might be my gallbladder. She listened! My HIDA scan came back fine but then the CT Scan showed stones. It has been a long hard process. I had the CT Scan one week from today- thankfully the radiologist showed me the stones write after it was done. The GI doctor STILL hasn't called me back after calls to him. And the Resident who listened is on an elective all month. So I have to wait another month until I am taken care of :-(.

I'm having watery yellow stools with brown sandy substance when bowels move. My friend says it's gallbladder sludge - anyone know anything about "sludge?" Or, if this is not related to gallbladder function.

Anyway, what is the name of the condition where the gall bladder is low functioning? %-)

Trust me it's your gallbladder! I have a lot of family history and everyone of us had low functioning and were back to normal immediately. My grandmother on both sides, my mother, my sister at 22, myself at 28, and my son at 15! None of us had stones. See what your function test was at. They don't like to take them out if over 35%. Moms was 6% my sis was at 2%. Mine 18% and my son 40%

I have the exact same thing. I am booked for surgery April 5th. But I am wavering. I don't know what too do. It dosen't guarantee that the gas and bloating will stop. I may be that. I may be something else. Mine if functioning at 14%. I have had gas and bloating my whole life but the past 5 months have been really bad. I changed my diet to more natural things and a lot of Fruit and veggies. Not much red meat. and low carbs. But seems to be getting worse.

My son had a Hida Scan back in Oct of 2012 I was told we would be contacted and told the results. If it was normal (above 35-40%) the we would be referred to a GI doc. It's now 6 months later. My son is 11. I have been feeling with stomach cramps, nausea and headaches with him for over a year... We figured since we never got news from the specialist about his Hida Scan results everything was normal. But he is home today with a stomach ache and nausea.... We face this 2-4 times a month. Last quarter he missed 8.5 days of school alone! Anyways I called the surgical group we went to and found out that his gallbladder is only functioning at 2%....!!! That's right they failed to call and inform is of his results! Man this explains a lot with this kid! :(
