I'm only 15 and I've has stomach problems all my life but nothing too serious just acid reflux and irritualbowl syndrome. However around this past thanksgiving I started not being able to eat without feeling nausea. I didn't worry about it too much, I thought it might have been something I ate. Well one day some friends and I decided to stop at mcdonalds.. Worst idea ever. I started throwing up at 9 that night and didn't stop till 3 the next morning, talk about miserable! At first I thought it was a virus but then after eating McDonald's again about a month later I knew something was wrong. My mother took me to the doctor because she had her gallbladder taken out and she felt that is what it was. I got an ultrasound, no stones. Got a HIDA scan and my gallbladder is only working 48%, which is normal? I'm still not able to eat a lot... I'm nauseous 24/7. I went back to the doctor and he said that he thinks I have ulcerative colitis. I have to go see a surgeon soon to see what he thinks. I'm just scared because won't my gallbladder get worse over the years? Also, there is not really any treatment for ulcerative colitis except waiting until it gets too bad to have surgery. I just want to be able to eat as much as I want, whenever I want, wherever I want and not get sick. :/

Hi, I have been having problems for about 4 months now with slow transit constipation. I finally had a hida scan that came back at 15%. with no apparent stones. My GI wants me to stay on a low fat diet for now and see what happens. The doctors say that even if I have the gallbladder surgery, it wont change any of my symptoms, and from some of the posts i have read, my symptoms could get even worse. I just mad major surgery 3 months ago for a prolapys pelvic floor. Super stressed out, was wondering if anyone has kept their low functioning gallbladder with any success. And for the ones that did have the surgery how was the outcome. I'm a 55 yrs old female and tired of living like this. I don't have any pain just the constipation and lack of appitite.

If yours is at 20% then at 15% mine must be horrible. i am seeing the surgeon on Wednesday. Do you have an acidic taste in your mouth when you eat? Really scary stuff, I am wondering if this is affecting my liver as well. I wish you the best of luck, wish me as well tired of being sick all the time.

Sue, did the gas and bloating stop and did you even have your surgery? My gallbladder is functioning at 15% and am scheduled to see a surgeon on Wednesday. I also get an acid taste in my mouth after eating small meals and get a yellow coating on my tongue. i am so afraid to have this dang surgery for none of the symptoms to go away. Tired of living like this, been sick for 4 months now. Had a complete hysterectomy in July 7th, all for nothing, to ease my symptoms (constipation) they thought it was a pelvic prolapys which is true, but didn't change anything. I get sand like looking stools when i don't take the milk of Magnesia, or don't go at all. it sucks, but in my case i just might have to take a chance with the surgery because im wondering now if it is affecting my liver. i get my blood work results tomorrow, and i will see if my liver/pancreas isn't on overload. Had to beg the doctor to get the HIDA scan and the blood work. What's wrong with these people? I know when something is wrong, don't just tell me I have IBS and to stressed out F U. Right now i have been juicing to see if that helps. Anyone with any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated, cuz i am at the end of my ropes here. Dang i don't want another surgery, I HATE SURGERY. Just recovered from the last one. And anyone in this situation or has been i would appreciate your feedback. Thank You

For anyone who finds themselves on this year old board. Just finally had my gallbladder out yesterday. Only 4% functioning. Had Hida scan year before and all was well. INSIST they do a CCK/Disida Scan instead. Hida scan IS NOT accurate. Trust. Me. Save yourself the anguish and unnecessary pain.

Mine didn't even start until I started taking birth control to help with my menopause issues...I feel sick all the time and have abdominal pain...my test came back 35.4% but that was after I had been off birth control for 2 weeks... so do I suffer with menopause issues or take the birth control and deal with gallbladder issues???? So tired of all the nausea and pain!! Uugghhh......

I was horribly scared to have surgery but once I did it it was the best thing I ever did. Now I feel way better. When you go in, they just give you a plain iv, and all medicines you get go in there, and before the surgery they give you stuff to relax you. You will feel great when you wake up. You may feel a tiny bit sore but that's what pain pills are for, Laproscopically is how they do it now so it's way better.

Hate to break it to you but you may never be rid of this problem organ or not. Stones can form in the ducts without the gallbladder anyhow, and you get either diarrhea or contipation all the time. Just the truth, however very few do say they never get sick anymore. I am nurse and I know what I see. Good luck.
