I had this for a short while. I went to see an acupuncturist as they have a lot of experience dealing with unexplained pain. It certainly reduced the pain and eventually went away after about 10 treatments.

OMG This has been happening to me for about a year now. It happened a couple times here and there and I thought they were just regular cramps. It ALWAYS happens after dreaming and that is usually when I wake up in tears, cant move, lay in a ball and try to poop which half the time I CANT. Its horrible. I havent been checked because I am scared. (Have had std checks and annuals but nothing like special) I was getting it on with myself tonight haha and before I went to get off it started up again and I immediately started searching for answers...and there isnt any :(

Thank you ladies for sharing your solutions! This is the only place I have found useful information. After reading [literally] every comment, it seems like there are 3 possible types of reasons for the pain. I'm no doctor but here is how I have organized my thoughts on what has been said:

1. Non-Serious Reasons: either muscle cramping or a pinched nerve. For some, abstaining from orgasm for 2-3 weeks made the pain go away. If you mostly experience clitoral orgasms or recently have had orgasms more frequently or more intensely, try letting the muscle relax for a few weeks and see if the pain stops. If this doesn't help, try seeing a chiropractor to get your spine and hips aligned. For some, acupuncture has seemed to work as well. These are the most non-intrusive solutions.

2. More Serious Reasons: hernia, endometriosis, scar tissue (from C-section), or ovarian cyst. Some posts say that these were the reasons for their pain. These would need to be diagnosed by a doctor. However, for others, medical procedures and surgeries did not help. Most who received a colonoscopy did not experience relief from the pain. Please, try non-intrusive solutions before surgeries, particularly before a hysterectomy (removal of reproductive organs)!!

3. Unknown Reasons... I'm not sure if these women have considered any of the above, but they still are unsure of the cause of their pain.

About me: I am nearly 23 years old and have had a healthy, pain-free sex life for almost 10 years. I've been experiencing a sharp pain in my lower left abdomen when reaching and during orgasm. It started a week or two ago. I am currently living in Thailand and do not want to see a doctor here because of the language barrier, no insurance, and the Thai doctors seem to take extreme measures or assume the worst. After reading the comments I believe my pain is due to reason #1. I have been running a lot lately and, since I am away from my boyfriend, I have been masturbating quite frequently. I think my pain is due to a muscle cramp from exercise and many intense clitoral orgasms. I also have noticed pain in my left knee and hip, along with stiffness in my neck and shoulders, all of which I attribute to running. Perhaps I have a pinched nerve and my spine and hips need to be aligned. I will let the muscle relax for a couple weeks and write back on my results. If the pain is still there upon my return to the states (1.5 months from now), I will first see a chiropractor, then a doctor (though it seems most doctors are as unsure as we are :/).

Hi Jori. Thanks for posting. Everything you're describing is exactly what I'm going through. I'm 23 yrs old, started having the pain in my lower left abdomen a few weeks ago, like a sharp muscle cramp. I also have a lot of bloating and lower back pain, especially on my left side. Lately I've had random cramping that is less severe and less concentrated, as though I am on my period when I'm not. Have you found any information since your post? Please let me know! Thanks so much!

I have recently started having this problem. The last 4 or 5 times I've had an orgasm I have noticed a pain on the right side of my lower abdomen. The pain is not intense, not even enough to override the orgasm, it's just enough for me to notice and wonder what is going on. After reading through these post though, I am worried the pain will get worse or start occurring at other times. I hope some new information will come to light soon. I am going to try taking at least a 2 week break from any sexual activity and see how it goes...I'll report back any changes.

PAIN IS GONE!

Solution: Just wait a couple weeks without any orgasms!

I posted a couple weeks ago. Mine is the long one with the name "somewhat organized thoughts." I tried to wait to have an orgasm and caved after one week. The pain was still there. So I waited another week (today), and like magic, the pain is gone! I still plan on letting the muscle rest as much as possible to make sure it doesn't come back. But basically, 2 weeks with one orgasm in the middle was enough for me. I've also been doing a lot of yoga - 1.5 hrs a day, and stretching that area (left abdomen, front and back) and also drinking a lot of water. I guess I'm still unsure what the cause was but I think, along with some other women who posted, it was simply a muscle cramp/spasm. So just let the muscle rest, especially if it's a new pain. If it's old, I would try getting your hips and spine aligned by a chiropractor. Also, just try to relax! Your inner abdominal muscles and tissue are very susceptible to stress (ever heard the term you "feel it in the gut"?). So if you're stressed it may also be a factor. Try some breathing exercises.

Hope this helps someone! Cheers!

I was diagnosed with a condition called adenomyosis. It is pain cause by endometriosis in the wall of my uterus due to scar tissue from small tearings that occurred when my uterus was stretched during pregnancy... I had a laparoscopy that diagnosed me. Its not curable n it causes pain during orgasms as well as cramping day to day... Usually during population and ur period which are the times of uterine inflation.

I have that if I masturbate too often or if I dont drink enough water, its somthing to do with your body needing minerals in the water to create sperm.

First of all, why would ovarian pain have anything to do with a colonoscopy? I ask because I have the same pain and I am in need of a colonoscopy, but I don't think they are synonomous. The pain goes away very shortly after orgasm, but it is pain nevertheless. I wonder if I need my ovaries removed? I have had my uterus and cervix removed due to fibroids - 19 years ago. But what could this pain really be? I am speculating. I am going to ask a doctor.

Hi, I'm 22 and I have been experiencing this problem consistently for almost two years. The strange thing is that I ONLY get it after an orgasm that is between ovulation and menstruation. I never get it for the week or so after my period is gone. Then a few days after ovulation it comes back. The closer I am to my period, the more intense it gets. I am having pelvic and abdominal ultrasounds done tomorrow, so I will see if anything happens. My mother had endometriosis at my age; I believe it's hereditary. Fingers crossed!

Things like having too much orgasm can cause it. There is always a trigger nervous zone that initiates orgasmic feeling. If it is too often or too much stimulated beyond , it may cause pain. Like with anything else in the body. Also, lack of vitamins like E, B-complex, may also contribute.
