You may have a kidney infection... lower left or right back pain... chills... nausea...

Just go to a walk-in medical clinic or your family doctor. They will be able to help you if you're not ready or comfortable to speak directly with your parents.

But don't wait! This could be serious... and then again, it might not be. Either way, it's better for you to know and get treated.

I'm a guy but have similar problems. Out of nowhere, I feel a sharp pain in the centre of my spine (like someone is pressing a screwdriver into it) which (in a milisecond) causes a heavy twinge in the centre and/or sides and bottom of my abdomen. I'm pretty sure it is a mechanical back problem (I injured my back years ago, and get occasional "bouts"), and the twinge in my abdomen is just a muscle spasm. It is worse when I am bloated or gassy (I think, as the abdominal muscles have less room to manouve without putting pressure on your back).

I find it flares up sometimes after sitting in a bad position or doing some digging etc. Thing is it usually happens the next morning, as the back muscles have then fully relaxed. It may be worth trying to following exercises to eliminate this (they are all from the McKenzie book).

Firstly, lie on your front with your arms by your side. Fully relax your entire torso and start breathing deeply into your abdomen (whilst keeping it as relaxed as possible) -- google "Abdominal breathing" if you're uncertain how to do this. The action of your breathing helps to massage and relax your spinal muscles. If this is a problem for you, then you should already feel some slight (or more) relief from doing this.

After about 5 minutes, move your body up and rest on your elbows, so that your back now forms a half-curve. Continue with the breathing, heavily, for a further couple of minutes and feeling your spine moving gently as you breathe with your abdomen.

Finally, push your arms straight so that your back is fully arched (like doing a press-up, but keeping your legs on the floor). Hold it for a few seconds (5-10) and then relax and repeat. After a day or two, add the opposite, pushing your head to your knees so that the back is curved in the opposite direction, in between the straight arm curves.

The amount of times you need to do these exercises varies depending on the level of your pain. If it is so bad that you are struggling to move, then you need to do them often (about 6 times a day) until it gets better. then a couple of times a day whilst it is still present, and then a couple of times a week for maintenence.

I must admit I get lazy, and don't do the maintenence exercises. If I did, I am sure that I wouldn't have any problems. I tend to put it off until it gets really bad and then sort it out. One day I'll learn!......

It might becasue of digestion problem. I have digestion problem and often go to bathroom, but it either really bad or nothing happens. I also have lots of gas. I see the day after drinking alcoholic stuff, i have a back cramp.  but if it feels like a cramp in your abdomen, try to use laxative. I had the same problem last year. I had a really bad testicular pain, which caused pain in my leg and lower abdomen and some part of my back. I stopped at my doctor, she examined my testicles (lol) :D and she said there is no lump or anything. She did an Xray and fought that my intestine are not working pro reply and food has not dispensed out of my body properly. since my intestine was no clean, it caused pain which went along the leg, back, and testicles.

I'm having these symptoms right now: sort of pressure on bladder area, some discomfort in testicles due to this, low back pain and the feeling (sometimes) that I want to go to the bathroom.

Days before these symptoms I had an ecography of bladder, kidney, spleen, liver and pancreas. It went out perfect. Blood test: perfect. Just a few days ago I had a complete urine test and it went out perfect as well.

In 2009 I went trough a similar situation, but I didn't have the low back pain and the testicles hurt when I walk. This doesn't happen now. Those symptoms just vanished back then.

Does anybody know what it could be?

hi

15 year old, go to the doctor and get it checked out, probably nothing but if you're not going to talk to anyone else about it you'll have to do something

I have been having similar problems. When I am standing or laying down, it is not as bad but when I am sitting I get a back pain and lower abdominal pain that kind of feel like cramps. I went to urgent care today and they tested my urine and took some x-rays and everything came out normal. They gave me 800mg of Motrin and told me to make an app with my doctor. I really hope this gets solved because I don't enjoy being in this condition

There are several different symptoms being discussed on this board. First, the discomfort the 15yr old spoke about is most likley GI related and probably can be fixed with diet changes. My wife used to get horrible cramps in her abdomen. She would be doubled over and in incredible pain. She would typically get these attacks along with an urgency to go to the bathroom. Sometimes she would get a differnet knd of pain higher up, just below her sternum. She was frequenly constipated and would sometimes have several days between bowel movements. after seeing a GI specialist she was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia. she was prescribed a special diet and her conditions went away. Occasionally she gets them again, but mostly when she hasn't been eating well. I have my own experiences with diet and GI problems. i was lactose intollerant and allergic to soy for about ten years without even knowing it. I was having frequent (4-8) loose bowel movements a day and suffred from dehydration as well as fatuige. I was misdiagnosed with IBS and told what not to eat. problems remained for quite a while until i started cutting foods out of my diet and reintorducing them. i realized i could not eat any dairy products or soy products. what was interesting is, the results of eating these bad foods were not instant. what i found out was, they inflamed my digestive track and would cause it to react poorly to ALL foods. This was why the allergies were so hard to diagnose. Now that i'm free of them I have no loose stools, no sudden urges to go and no abdominal cramping. As for the back issues, this fellow that has the problems with digging etc... that is most certainly back pain due to muscle spasm, herniated disk etc... I have had a herniated disk for 12 yrs in the lumbar spine and have a lot of experience with back issues. I am also an athletic trainer and have worked with a lot of clients with back pain. the reason he has more trouble the next morning is because of cold muscles. Typically, muscle aggravations, strains go unnoticed until the following morning. This is because while asleep, the muscles get reduced blood flow. injuries can also reduce blood flow to the area due to swelling and inflamation of the tissues. After waking the person notices the stiff and sore muscles. Muscle spasms can be severe, extremly painful and can often send people to the ER. I am currently lying in bed with just such a strain. I've currently pulled one of the deep muscles of the mid back. My back strain is causing severe vommit like spasm of my left side abdominal muscles. If I try to stand, bend over, take a deep breath, cough, etc... I end up with stabbing pain in the left side of my ribs, obliques, rectus abdominus and transvers abdominus(muscles of the abdomen). What i don't feel is any pain in the back while this is happening. All of the pain is refered to the left ribs and obiques. I can however, isolate which muscle is pulled based on movement tests. The body is a complex structure and because our joints are desined to be stabilized from both sides during a muscle contration the result is use of the abs when the back is in spasm. The muscles surrounding the area can also go into a protective mode where they to go into spasm in an effort to minimize movement to promote healing of the affected area. Hope this is of some use to some of you.
