Yea, pectus excavatum is usually linked however 3 weeks ago I had a nuss bar (a steal bar) put into my chest to fix my PE and I now have the flared ribs on the left side, where as before fixing my PE I didn't notice anything. A common way to fix it is working on your transver abdominalmuscles and your external and internal obliques. Possibly your back muscles as well. After a few months you should see improvement, if not I dunno.

I have 2 extra floating ribs, or 'vertabal' ribs, meaning I have 2 extra at the bottom and I've noticed it makes my curves look too sharp. I also have 2 extra bones in my spine which gives me scoliosis, or a curved spine. I'm only 15 but done growing which is REALLY good, because the pain has subsided for the most part. Since my spine is curved, it sets off my nerve system and my hips, which makes the left one purtrude out, but the right looks normal. When you look at me you'd never just notice these things but they are there which leaves me really self conscience.

I HAVE THE ANWSWER YOU WANT!!

I have this and this is call Pectus Carinatum. There is surgical correction for this or you can where a customized brace. I haven't done either. Trying to find a good Thoracic Surgeon in my area and brace is expensive. For me I am 23 years old now and I noticed it since I was about 14 years old. I have trouble sleeping no matter what position and the it pain everyday even just sitting and typing this. When I breathe it hurts. Here and then it will be excruciating. I would advise you talk to family doctor and if x-rays come out nothing, go some where else for one. If you truly believe something is not right you have to do your own research and tell the doctors. Talk to your family and figure out what options you have and what method do you want to try. Hope everyone can find a relieve either emotionally, physically, mentally and can feel better after knowing what it is and what you can do. Also determine how bad your case is and if there is a need for surgery. If you can get the brace I would suggest try it first.  Wishing you all the best! =)

I have this issue, my lower ribs on my right stick out more, but thats because I have scoliosis and had surgery to prevent my spine from curving further. I had surgery when I was a teen but the ribs stayed the same. I just took my 7 month old baby boy to the doctors because both his ribs portrude and the doctor flipped him over and checked his spine, thank god it was straight but that is the first thing a doctor should check on anyone who has uneven ribs. With an adult the doctor will get you to bend over forward and feel your spine all the way up and see if there is any curvature. Hope this helps.

I posted on another forum that a Thoracic Surgeon where he said that chiropractor will only help slow the progress of the Scoliosis and Pectus Carinatum. I will be trying out acupuncture and chiropractor just to help with the pain. The rib is now much worse and I can feel it protruding out from my back near shoulder blade just under and underneath my chest. Will update. Thanks for advice. I'm thinking it's actually my Scoliosis getting worse which is affect my PC.

I have this same situation going on with my left rib. I just noticed this about a year ago. I am a 17 year old male and I go to the gym often, I'm just concerned if working out is going to be a problem in the future and if the rib would become more noticeable though out time. I would like to know a lot more about whats going on in my rib cage. Oh and does anyone feel that there is something under it that moves if you put pressure?
