Most humans are not symmetrical. If it is not causing you physical problems (pain, mobility issues, etc.) then you should ignore it. Same way, not all folks have perfect centered nose (some have slight deviation toward right or left) or both eyes are not exactly the same size and shape. Doctors will be quick to offer surgery, that carries its own complications. Again, if it is causing pain then you should get a treatment, but otherwise don't think too much into it.

I have the exact same problem. I'm trying to get bigger abs to cover it up. I'm also scared to play physical sports because I'm scared that I'm more prone to getting my rib hurt. The only time that it hurts is when I am in gym class and my gym teacher makes us do superman (you lie on your stomach and bring your arms and legs up). I have not went to a doctor, but I'm assuming that they will suggest surgery.

i have the same problem, on my left side, however i have four extra ribs on the left side, and when i hunch over they rub against my hipbone. But also my ribs stick out 3 inches away from my stomach- which is very abnormal, and terrible for an 18 year old in todays society. because i get the comment "4 boobs" almost every day. so its a a drag, and ive been looking at the surgery alsoo, but it's quite expensive.

I work out six days a week along with a strict abdominal work out. Which includes specific oblique exercises. I didn't start to notice my protruding left ribs until my four pack developed. It doesn't really hurt. Just not particularly attractive seeing I work so hard at keeping in optimal shape. I wish there was a fix. Maybe the corset? I would do it if I knew it was successful.

I'm also experiencing similar issues! I'm almost 16 and very recently I started experiancing slight pain in my ribs (It's only bad enough to cause me a bit of discomfort). Upon looking at my ribs I noticed that the left side sticks out, while my right side doesn't. Aesthetically I don't care if my ribs stick out, but I am worried if it's a danger to my health. No doctors have ever mentioned me having issues with my ribcage before and I've never played any contact sports or even broken a bone. What's even more worrying to me is that I've subcociously started to sit and lie differently to accomidate my ribs. I almost exclusively sit sideways now, and when I sleep I lay crooked or lopsided. So far I haven't seen a doctor about it, however I'm strongly considering seeing a chiropractor and getting their opinion

If it is just a dysfunctional rib cage, it shouldn't matter what side it happens too, correct? On my right side, very bottom approximately my second or third rib going up; bulges out and makes it look like my rib broke then healed wrong. I've never broken any bones though, and it's only that one rib. My ribs are all fine and even up until this one, and the strange thing is, is that I can move it around and hear a pop that sounds like a joint popping. It has been like this for about a year and a half and it's just been getting worse as I've noticed. It only hurts if I irritate it a lot. My ribs all get smaller as they are supposed to, but then this one is a major difference, and the one below it helps show how different it truly is. Could you have any idea on what it is other than it being just "dysfunctional"?
