Hi everyone,

I know a lot of people have covered this topic, and have had similar experiences, but I thought I'd ask if anyone can help anyway.

I've had a lumpy left tonsil for just under a year now, and it's continuing to get worse. I have had to take many days off work and college for this, as it's been very painful, and it's seriously hindering my work. It's also hard to sleep with it at times, as it sometimes feels that I can't breathe, or that it's difficult.

Two of my regular GP (doctors) can see that the tonsil is 'juicy and inflamed' (the exact words), and that it doesn't look normal.

After seeing an ENT specialist, he says that it's perfectly normal, and that to soothe it use salt water gargle, which hasn't helped one bit.

I know the ENT specialists have more advanced equipment to use, but surely my GPs should also know what a normal tonsil looks like? Would having a tonsillectomy be likely to help with this?

Since having this, a small lump (another lymph node) has come up just below my right ear - not sure if anyone else has had this?

If anyone has any advice or experience on this, I'd be very happy to hear it.

Thanks in advance.
