I'm 71 and due to run my first marathon in April. I run quite slowly and have been managing just under 12 minute miles on my long runs. I have allowed 24 days between my longest scheduled training run and Marathon day itself. If I attempt 22 miles for my longest run it will take me well over 4 hrs and I'm not sure that this is a sensible thing to do.
Also, can anyone suggest a suitable wind down schedule bearing in mind that I need a bit more recovery than a younger runner. I have been running 4 or 5 days in every 8 and cross traing on 2 other days.
Are there any more wrinkly runners out there?
