I am 30 yr old and my period has now been going for 3 months somedays it is spotting other days it is very heavy with blood clots I have been to the doctor in the past and they prescribe birth control I feel that it isn't fixing the problem it is just covering it up. When I was 19 or 20 I went to a doctor and she told me, my irregular was caused by obesity. That makes nosense to me, I am 5'3 and weigh 230ish. I just want an explaination on the problem and I would like to fix the problem without birth control. Can you please help me!!!!

Unfortunatly, your Doctor is correct. Being over weight does play a role
in your cycle.
Obesity can cause menstrual irregularities and fertility problems.
Have you been checked for FIBROIDS?
ENDOMETRIOSIS is another problem that affects the cycle, causing excessive or irregular bleeding.
I think instead of your Doctor just throwing you on birth control to mask the problem, he should evaluate and possibly rule out any condition that may be the cause your problem.
It is not normal for a women to bleed for 3 months straight.
If you are not happy with your present MD, may i suggest that you look around for a second opinion.
Excessive long term bleeding could be a sign of cancer as well. I don't mean to scare you but my mom bled for 6 months straight and was diagnosed with cancer. She had a radical hysterectomy at the age of 34.
