My husband is taking Methotrexate for Lupus and several other drugs. I was wondering whit what drugs Methotrexate can interact? I would appreciate some list if there is. Thank you

An interaction generally means that one drug may increase or decrease the effect of another drug, so interaction with Methotrexate can occur with: blood thinners (Coumadin), sulfa drugs (Bactrim), alcohol (leads to liver toxicity), arthritis drugs (ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, Naprosyn, Voltaren, Lodine), digoxin (Lanoxin), phenytoin (Dilantin), aspirin or other salicylates and maybe some other.

Hello there hornburg,

In my opinion the best answer to this question you will get from your doctor. first of all since your husband was prescribed with the Methotrexate for Lupus with additional medications it is normal that his doctor did this with consideration.

But I can understand that you are concerned and that you don’t trust in everything that your husband’s doctor has said. The best solution is to ask him about every medication and about its effect on your husband’s condition. This is the only way to get correct answers and to be satisfied with the answers. Everything else is just guessing what your husband is taking besides Methotrexate for Lupus.

I hope that you will get your answers.
