Hi: This post is old, so you will have the answer by now, but I just wanted too tell you that the morning after pill is VERY reliable, BUT not toally 100 percent at doing it's job. ALSO I woulnd't be surprised if you emailed me back and told me you were NOT pregnant. As the condom broke OUTSIDE you, so even though sperm have been known too last 3 days and travel "up stream" ;-) Your BF's would have to be OLYMPIC Vaulters and swimmers!!!! ;-) XD So just let me know how everything went OK?

Hi Jade! We aren't doctors on here honey, so you need to talk to your doctor about the Yaz! A lot of times - not always - breast feeding can totally stop ovulation and your period! Some women continue breastfeeding for that exact reason! BUT this isn't always the case - due to different women and their hormones! I will help you further I just need some more information OK?
1. When did you ahve your baby - congratulations by the way!! :-D
2. When did you last menstruate?
3. When did you have unprotected sex with your husband?
4. When did you take the test?

Mini pills - progesterone pills - have been shown to cross over into the breast milk, but no side effects have been shown - they also can increase the milk! Combinations pills - with estrogen - should only be used after 6 weeks of breastfeeding because they EXTREMELY decrease the milk production! The estrogen still crosses over through the breast milk! So Yaz is a combination pill! So I would advise you to look into progesterone pills only! I REALLY don't like - this is my PERSONAL opinion - the idea of passing drugs onto our babies1 I think it should be pure! I will be honest I think you should just have your husband wear a condom till you are finished breast feeding! Even though there isn't any known problems with all these hormones going to the baby, I say, "How in the heck do we know what it actually does to us later on?" There are younger and younger girls getting their periods, younger women going into menopause, younger men with EDS, more male breast cancer etc. etc. Of course the argument can be made that it is ALL the chemicals and hormones in our food! So if THAT is the argument why would you want to start them off with more hormones?!!!

Yes it does prevent implantation:
this is taken from
"How Does it Work?
The emergency contraceptive/morning-after pill has three modes of action (as does the regular birth control pill); that is, it can work in one of three ways:
1. The normal menstrual cycle is altered, delaying ovulation; or
2. Ovulation is inhibited, meaning the egg will not be released from the ovary;
3. It can irritate the lining of the uterus (endometrium) so as to inhibit implantation."
I mean it only makes sense. Or else it would be the regular form of bc... The fertilized egg can't attach to the uterine lining, thus preventing pregnancy. Because a lot of times you could have already ovulated. So Plan B has to keep this from implanting, which is why some people do consider it still an abortion. Those that believe life happens the moment of conception... Doctors say pregnancy happens when the fertilized egg implants and releases hCG. Very debatable because you never know where the egg is... but for most women it's okay because it will cause the sperm to have a hard time swimming in the thick cervical mucus and prevents them from meeting the egg. But as I said... you don't really know where each cell is unless you chart, observe cervical mucus and position, and/or ovulation predictor kits AND if you take it as soon as possible! The longer you wait the greater the chances are that it'll become fertilized and then you will be preventing implantation, instead of conception.

But of course it doesn't affect an existing pregnancy. It's only making you have thicker mucus, increased hormones, nausea, and a plethora of other undesirable symptoms when you're already experiencing undesirable pregnancy symptoms lol. TAKE IT AS SOON AS UNPROTECTED SEX HAPPENS! But you have to have a 24hr pharmacy especially for the weekend, $50 (in my city) or if u want it to be covered by insurance you have to see a Dr. PPH has it but idk how much it is...

I had sex with my bf using a condom but the condom broke but we did not notice it until we had finished. but with in 30 minutes we had got to our local pharmacy and bought plan B morning after pill.... I am wanting to know if by taking the pill as fast as i did will it greatly reduce the chance of getting pregnant.

Hi Liz! As long as the pill is taken within 72 hours - which is the amount that it takes for conception - then you are fine! Plan B is 99% effective! So just relax OK? Also good for you for using protection! Hope this helps you honey!

Hi, I'm from the UK. And I've have had sex with my boyfriend tonight, and we noticed that the condom split....and I had sort of checked myself, I am now worried on what to do....I mean I know I have to go to a clinic-walk in centre to ask for the morning after pill...but I wouldn't know what to ask for or how to say it, and no one is going with me. I am only 17 I have never used the pill. :/ What should I do? :cry:

So me and my bf have been thinking alot about having a baby so yesterday we tried and right afterwords I started to get a little worried because I want to make sure we are married before I am pregnant or even engaged. So I'm wondering if I should take the plan b or morning after pill ( are those even the same thing ) because I heard you mention the abortion pill I do not want that! Also later that day I started my period but my periods are irregular and it was more like a brown discharge with a little bit of red blood and that's normally how all my periods are :/ ...soi guess my first question is what are my chances of getting pregnant at all and if I take the morning after pill will it be successful since it's so soon,
