My husband had skin cancer surgery and got MRSA from the operation room. A week later, I had a mastectomy. He was afraid to come near me because he did not want to infect me, as the MRSA was active, and the strain does not respond to anitbiotics. I don't know what it is called when your spouce is unable to "support" you emotionally due to an illness. Can you please tell me what that is called?

My husband and I are very close and while I was recouperating, I could see how much this was hurting him. He was devastated at the fact that he could not take, what he considered to be, proper care of me in my time of recovery. I kept telling him not to worry about it, that we would get through both of our conditions and be stronger than ever. But we are looking for the "term", as mentioned above, as we are holding the hospital responsible for all the emotional stress that we had during this trying time. We want to ensure that others know our story, and are aware of the challenges that all forms of MRSA bring, and how easy it is to get and have change your life forever.
