I've had same problem for about 3 years. Went to doctor, and he didn't have a clue, but sent me to podiatrist. Podiatrist wasn't sure either, but he gave me a prescription for a cream called Beta-Val. Tried cream for a week with no improvement. Finally in desperation called my 83 year old mother. She suggested I soak my feet 2 or 3 times a day in a solution of warm water, Listerine, and epson salt. After a couple of days saw definite relief. After 5 days all symptoms gone. It happened again last year, and once again Mom's solution worked. :-D

My sixteen year old son had his toes start to itch and turn purple last year. Went to the doctor and they ran some tests to rule out certain problems. They finally diagnosed it as vasculitis and told him to keep his feet warm and to take 2 Aleve twice a day for 2 weeks. It went away, but it came back this year and we're treating it the same.

hello my Girlfriend has very similer simptoms. her toes and sometimes her feet will turn a pail white and a little purple and now the backs of hre finger nails have turned a purpleish color.... and a doc told her to wear socks also.... but nothing has changed. andy idea?

my daughters little toe on her right foot is purple also, it has been for two weeks...very sensitive to the touch, swollen and she is having to work everyday on it. I told her she needed to go to the dr with it. I am worried, if anyone has any idea what this can be please let me know....thanks!

I've noticed that my feet only do this if they get really cold or if I take a hot shower while my feet are cold. So my feet usually get purple during the winter months. Also I've noticed that if I'm not wearing shoes that ventalate during summer, my feet will do the same thing. Hope this helps.

If you have ever frozen a limb (toe in this case), this is a result that limb getting cold again. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about it other than making sure the toes don't get cold. Depending on the extent, a chilly floor can set off the reaction.
To make it a little more tolerable, wrap the toe with a self-adhesive tape or wrap. Don't over wrap or it will irritate the toes on either side. Another great solution, for open toe shoes is using liquid bandade on each side of the toe.

I'm having the same issues work my feet. Since I smoke ask the docs say is I have Buergers Disease. Ok. Wtfev. Always always always don't just take what the doc says as gospel. After years of putting up with several foot issues ie. I always have had red, blue and purple tiles since I was kid. I'm 50 now. After hearing what docs said about My feet. Getting checked for diabeties. NEG, there is a Raynauds disease, shrinking of the blood vessels eventually turning into Buerfers. Also I have figured out after countless antibiotics that most itching/burning/tingling/"stone bruise" feelings are due to a bacterial infection, I think Keflex is best prescribed. Add a matter of face I have had some issues totally not identifiable to either condition, Raynauds not bacterial infection, just you regular run of the mill country gurl foot booboos have been FIXED SOLEY AND COMPLETELY BY GUESS WHO?? MY BEST 4 LEGGED FRIEND MY DOG. After he licked ONE TIME 2 infections on they rise up and pooped and healed. Bottom line...You have lived in your body your whole life. Take the drs. Advice, weigh it, get more info, investigate investigate investigate and remember DRS DON'T KNOW EVERYTHING.

My 7 yrs old daughter has the same problem, a purple toe. Exactly the middle one. It is not related to cold weather because we live in the caribbean and it is always hot. She exercises a lot. She practices gymnastics 2 hrs a day. I am really worried and stopped giving her the protein she was taking everyday before going to the gym.

Does this happen in winter? Check out 'Chilblains'. This happens to me every year (I live in Colorado). It takes about 2 weeks to heal itself. I have to be very careful about rubbing my toes before getting in hot showers/baths. I have heard that simmering chopped celery for 20 minutes, then soaking effected foot in the celery water can permanently clear up chilblains. I should try this!
