I've had the same problem since I was 12. My parents never took me to see about it and I've had this problem off and on ever since. I'm now 57 and I've never been able to find an answer. Now if someone asks me why my toes are purple I just reply that it's my favorite color anyway!

Curious if your daughter has celiac' disease or if she is gluten sensitive. We live in the northeast US and my daughter has two toes showing these same symptoms as it has gotten colder. She eats gluten free due to stomach issues. I've heard Reyaud's syndrome can be associated with those with celiac disease.

Have just come across your question... had been looking for answers for a friend's daughter's second toe - purple around joint, doesn't itch... i digress i have come across a 'Jones fracture' that affects the fifth metatarsal. Hope you are less affected now.
