Hello.

I am 16 and I am quite worried about this. Whenever I get an errection my foreskin won't pull back - under the penis . I am starting to be quite worried about it. I do not want to see a doctor. Can you help me out , please? Thank you in advance... :/

Hi Guest,

This is normal, up until about 16 or so.

Start stretching your foreskin.  Using your fingers you can spread the opening OR you can get an erection and pull down on the shaft skin.  The idea is to stretch the opening - the more you do it the faster the results.  You don't have to hurt yourself when you do this but there may be some discomfort.

Do it in the shower too.  The warm water will help soften the skin.

It just takes some time and effort on your part but you can solve this yourself - no doctor needed.

You are going to find the head of your penis VERY sensitive, maybe even painful, at first.  This is also NORMAL.  The nerves have been protected and aren't used to being touched.  Eventually they'll become less sensitive.

Remember, the more you stretch the faster the results.

Good luck.

Almost all boys are born with a foreskin that does not retract. This is normal. It takes years for the ability to retract to develop. About ½ of boys have a retractable foreskin by 10.4 years of age. Many adolescents still have foreskins that have tips that are too narrow to pass back over the penis head. These foreskins may be gently stretched over a period of time to cause them to widen.

It is normal for teens to have a foreskin that does not retract. One’s foreskin is still developing. One can help it develop by stretching it.

When your penis is erect, gently pull your foreskin back against the head of the penis. As the head attempts to pass through the foreskin it will stretch the skin a little. Do this every day and in a few weeks or months your foreskin will widen and you will be able to retract your foreskin. Do NOT force retraction. Do NOT cause yourself pain.

It works by tissue expansion. Stretching skin induces “mitosis” which is a word that means “division of cells”. New skin cells are formed and the skin expands but it takes some time. The increase in size is permanent. Be patient and give mitosis time to work.

The important thing is to put the skin under tension every day so that it will grow wider.

Only circumcision is the option as you are facing this problem at this age. My son had the same problem. I tried to stretch his foreskin everyday during shower but it didn't work. At last I consult with doctor for the operation. He was circumcised last year at the age of 15. His pubic hairs were shaved before the operation as those hairs may create problem during the operation & after making the bandage. It was only 20mins procedure with local anesthesia but post operation care is very important. He was cured in 3 weeks and now he is completely ok. you can choose whether you want the frenulum intact or remove. My son's frenulum was removed with high & tight circumcision. the scar line is gone but only the color difference of inner foreskin & shaft skin is noticeable. Don't delay do the operation you will be relieved from this pain forever.

Sorry guest, but that is not true. Circumcision is NOT the only option. Stretching can/does work. The problem is that most young men are not taught how to care for their foreskin. At 15, it is VERY NORMAL for a young male to not be able to retract his foreskin. You could have waited longer.

Many urologists, themselves circumcised, do not understand this either. Always get a second/third opinion before any elective operation.

in our family he is the first person who is circumcised. I taught him & i personally tried to help him when he is in puberty and it is embarrassing for him to get naked in front of me. he suffered for 2years, especially in the morning he woke up almost crying. before operation doctor asked me whether we tried to stretch it after that he examined and decided to cut his skin.

Hi guest, I agree with medicdan on this that circumcision isn't a necessary operation it can be very intrusive and can also end up being just as painful as a tight foreskin is. I have read your posts and don't quite understand why had to help your 15 year old son do it, I was around 10 when my dad told me how to look after mine and stretch it so it would pull back easy. Stretching just takes time specially if you only do it once a day!

This is total nonsense.

1. There is no reason for a 15-year-old boy to get naked in front of his father.

2. Simple non-retractile foreskin does not cause one to suffer. It is painless.

3. There is nothing connected with non-retractile foreskin that would make a boy cry.

4. It is quite common for the foreskin not to become retractable until the teen years.

Manual stretching does work. It is done frequently by teen boys without medical assistance.

This post sounds like it was written by someone with a circumcision fetish.

1. Fathers do not normally take showers with 15-year-old boys.

2. It is the boys duty to stretch his own foreskin. It is not the father's duty.

3. The phrase "high and tight circumcision" is typical of language used by someone with a circumcision fetish.

4. Talking of pain is total nonsense because a non-retractile foreskin is not painful.
