This is really a tricky one. I think my personal answer depends on if you are a boy or a girl actually.
If she came to you I think I would give her a pretty basic answer at this point. It may be awkward - but maybe asking your parents for their advice is the right thing to do. Did they talk about this with you?
I would probably be ok with you answering her questions - but not really volunteering much beyond that. 9 is pretty young - and at 12 you don't really have all that much experience yourself...and again you being a boy or a girl would even weigh more into my decision and advice given your ages.

Oops - I see now that your post said you were a girl! Sorry about that! Your answers can only depend on how much personal experience you have - so consulting with your parents may be the best bet.

I stick with what I said before...if you were a little closer in ages I would probably actually say to go ahead and show her as long as you were BOTH very comfortable - but there is a REALLY big age difference here where I don't think it would be appropriate.

Try to start with your mom...I do think that is your best bet. If you don't get any results...is there another adult you can trust in your lives? I think you are ok to probably talk with your sister about masturbation - but keep your talk appropriate for her age and understanding.
