hello,
finally, some information from people with L.P. shunts. I got BIH August 2005, had a shunt put in by October. THen everything was fine, was back to my old self. Last 6 weeks or so have been getting neck/ headaches again, not too bad but enough to make life quite difficult. Feels like similar to original problems that led to BIH diagnosis, but nowhere near as severe.
Does anyone else have anything similar, doctors find no relation to BIH or shunt (had another Lumbar Puncture and some tests, plus checked catheta was placed correctly and everything was fine).
Maybe this is to do with my periods, as it seems to get better and worse, but I'm not too sure. I'm just very frustrated about this condition because there is no information about what is normal, everyone seems to have a different story though. Also, there isn't other people with it that I am in contact with.
Just wondered if anyone had any advice, doctors say 'wait and see' but I don't want this to keep going. It is horrible.

Hello there, I know a little something about shunts, my aunt was one of who have them placed due to the same reason, now she has to live with it, also with some light headaches she’s been complaining about all the time, as well as nausea and vomiting, I know once she said she has troubles with her period, I know it’s been pretty irregular and she said this is something she has to get used to. She also has 2 kids, and she developed the BIH after giving birth, oh well, women never know what they can run into after labors. There are many different possible conditions developing in women after they become moms, I personally developed Hashimoto thyroiditis in postpartum period and now I have to live with it as well. But what can we do other than find the best way to live it. All the best to you!
thanks for the info. every bit helps.
:'( I really know how you feel I just had a lp shunt but in and I also have bad headaches and neck pain. I ask the doctor and he suggested that i just give it time. The only thing that helps is just laying down this is very difficult with 2kids and I also work as a na2. your not alone.
