Hello.
Changes in menstrual patterns and irregular bleeding are common side effects of hormonal contraceptives like the Depo-Provera shot. It's not unusual to experience irregular bleeding, including prolonged or frequent periods, when using this form of contraception. It's important to note that everyone's body reacts differently to hormonal contraceptives, so experiences can vary.
For some individuals, the irregular bleeding and changes in menstrual patterns associated with the Depo-Provera shot may resolve over time as the body adjusts to the hormonal changes. It's possible that your menstrual cycle will eventually regulate itself. However, it's also possible that irregular bleeding may continue for as long as you're using the contraceptive shot.
If the irregular bleeding becomes bothersome or persists for an extended period, it's recommended to consult with your doctor. Is your bleeding still light?
