Hi, brain abscess is a mass of immune cells, pus, and other material. It is formed when the brain is infected by bacteria or fungus. Brain abscesses usually develop when bacteria or fungi infect part of the brain. This infection area is enclosed by a membrane, so pus, bacteria and white blood cells are captured within. Further damage of tissues provoking cell death and swelling of additional cells are next signs of the disease. Multiple abcesses are uncommon, so your sister probably has one absesse.
