Hello I am a disabled mom of 1 and I have recently been experiencing that too and I realized that I pulled a ligament weeks earlier in my arm putting up a canopy. A week later my shoulder was hurting and my back rib hurts below my gallbladder. I had that removed when I was younger so I knew it wasnt that. I have come to realize Its from sitting too long at my desk and when I stretch I pulled it. I found laying on a ball for yoga helps and it goes away once the muscle is worked.

Still in pain? Sounds very similar to what I have had and is very misdiagnosed in the medical profession. Each rib has a groove running along the bottom of it and channeled in each groove are three items.....an artery, an intercostal nerve and a vain. When a rib has is out of place in the back, the intercostal nerve (within the intercostal groove) sends signals all the way around the front for pain. The rib area in the back that is out of place is very painful since off of each intercostal nerve there are collateral nerves traveling to the surface of the skin. This term I believe is called a sublaxed rib....a good chiropractor can adjust the rib and you'll notice immediate relief. My wife had a burning spot on her back about the same area you describe, but on the left side for 20 years. When her lower back started acting up and knew she had no other option than see a chiropractor, when the first adjustment on her lower back was done, I mentioned the rib problem to him (my wife wasn't happy I spoke up) and he felt around and found the rib and bingo.....one adjustment gone for now over a year! I went through MRI's at UCSF, Stanford and the entire medical realm and they refused to listen to this theory. You've got nothing to lose to find a good chiropractor that is covered by your insurance company....usally 12 visits a year with a copayment. Hope this was helpful. I've gone through 8 years of back pain and know how it tries on you.

I have had similar pain for about 8 months now and no one has an answer for me. They look at me like I am lying about it and tell them everytime I drive the pain is almost unbearable. I just found this sight and really am glad that someone else knows how it feels. I have been on tramadol and ibuprofen along with pain patches and injections nothing seems to help.

Sounds like it could be pancreatitis- the pain is not always in a "normal" place and blood tests do not always diagnose it. Treatment is IV, IV pain killers and nothing by mouth for at least 3-4 days, then soft foods. This mystery also happened to me.

Try a chiro and see if you have a rib out of joint. This can cause the pain. It sure couldn't hurt.

How are you feeling now?? Have you found a cure? If your still looking for a permanent solution and prescriptions haven't help you should consider homeopathic remedies they cured my father of what seems like the exact same problem. He was suffering just like you described, all the test where done and nothing. He went to a homeopath who took his case and gave him a remedy and he has never been better even his reacurring bum pain has gone and that seemed completely unrelated. Just a suggestion but really I hope by now your all better.

Mystery pain under the right rib cage and into the back with no gallbladder must be a common problem. I am in constant pain that very seldom lets up. I am now taking Tramadol 2x  day and using Lidocaine patches on my back and under my shoulder blade. I really wish someone could find some answers for me. My ribs and spine stay sore. Even my skin is sore over my ribs and back. There are some days I think I could just sit down and quit d/t exhausted from the pain!!!! i also have had MRIs and blood test and scans over the last 2 years with nothing found. I know my doctor dreads to see me come in the door but I really would like to know what is causing all this pain and get it stopped!
