Good point, Sweetlana, every surgery is different. My sister was off her foot for 6 weeks!

I hope you got in touch with your doctor and got an increase in pain meds. I too was in terrible pain until the meds kicked in.

what a great, encouraging post, thank you sweetlana! my surgery is scheduled for November 1st. I had bunions since I was a kid, and now I'm 38 and I finally decided to get rid off them. I'm also an athlete, I love running, cycling, weight lifting. Just thinking about not being able to workout for couple of months makes me depressed, but the upside is that by summer I will have prettier and healthier feet, and I too will be shopping for those beautiful shoes I never dared to wish for :-) I will post how my first 72 post-op is going. good luck to everyone with upcoming surgeries, stay positive, and everything will be great.

I used BioCryo Cold Compression System, I only used it for 2 weeks since it wasn't covered by the insurance, but it really helped. I'm 5 weeks post surgery and I ice my foot at least 5 times a day.

Well I had my bunion surgery THIS MORNING and so far it has been a very straightforward and pleasant experience. I know the painkillers have to wear off but within two hours of surgery I was walking in my Darco sandal to the toilet no bother and the Physio showed me how to go up and down the stairs. Everyone from surgeon to nurse to catering staff was friendly and helpful and I had a lovely lunch and was discharged around 2.30, I went down to theatre at 8,30am so it was so swift. I flew from Cork to the UK so am on 12 days of anti coagulants in tablet form to reduce risk of clotting. The pharmacist visited me with a bag of pills and patientlu explained everything to me. I had no trouble walking from the taxi to my hotel room and no nausea and a great appetite afterwards. I know the next four weeks will be challenging at times. But what is that compared to returning to exercise and being able to wear normal width shoes? I'm already planning to return to have my other foot done later this year. I had MIS using a day case anaesthesia.

I had bunion surgery 2 days ago .... Same thing , have had them for years but have had a lot of pain over the last two years . I am really shocked at how little pain I am in . I keep
Waiting for it to hit . I'm trying to elevate as much as is possible with a family , and I am tired but otherwise , I'm all good !
I had also heard horror stories and I have to say mine is so far very manageable !
