hi, im 14 years old. i have had my period for about a year, and im usually fairly irregular. however, i havnt had my period for a little while, not too long, but its starting to worry me.
i have always experienced a kind of white, mucas-like discharge, and continue to do so. but i still havn't had my period in about a month and a half. i know im not pregnant, as im a virgin. but this problem is beginning to stress me out, and now im worried that i got raped or something and dont remember it.
i have experienced signs i usually recieve before my period; stomach pains, slight constipation etc., but its leading to nowhere and im stuck on what to do.

please help, im only 14 and im getting really worried! :'(

Hi,

You know you have irregular periods, have you had them this late before? Diet and exercise can play a role in how often you have your period too. Are you eating OK, feeling OK?

I don't think the anxiety will help either.

I'm a bit concerned where you say you worry that you got raped or something and don't know it? Is there something that you suspect may have happened to you? If so you really need to tell someone, a parent, now.

Talk to your mom, let her know your concerns. She can help you with it. OK?

Let us know how you're doing.

im not sure if i have or not, honestly, i dont usually pay much attention to my periods. but this time ive noticed, i think maybe because its summer and swimming and that sort of thing? where you usually notice this sort of thing?

admittedly, lately ive been having a slight change in diet and excericise, which might be responsible.

also, im not depressed, but lately i have been feeling really down, do you think that could have anything to do with it?

and no, thers nothing to make me think i have been, but when i get anxious, i start getting nervous. im not good when im nervous, and get quite worked up and freaked out.

im just getting really scared, and im sure im being ridiculous, but you know the feeling when there is just that voice inside that scares you?

thanks for the help, ill keep you posted

Your only 14 and having an irregular period for about a year could be just the problem. It takes some time for a young lady to get a schedule and become regular with her cycle. You are a virgin so you are not pregnant.
There is nothing to make you think that you have been raped, you just get anxious. Be careful with your anxiety. Sometimes when a person gets all worked up and freaked out about something they could almost make themselves think that it really could have happened. Have you ever heard of an hysterical pregnancy? I am just using this as an example.
You should consider talking to your mom. We have a magical way of making everything better. You have done nothing wrong, you have not had sex and by the sounds of your post, i don't think you have been raped. Talk to her and tell her exactly what you have told us, she will have the answer.
Also, just an FYI, you may want to look into some kind of birth control pill. Not for sex, but to help straighten out your periods. Bc will help you become regular and you will almost be able to pin point the exact day that your period will come.

Sorry, this is an afterthought but i have been looking at some of your replys on this site and you offer some great advice. You sound quite intelligent for your age and your advice sounds very grownup.

So, relax and i am sure that your period will show up. I know many times it's easier to give advice to someone in need of it rather that to sit back and take a look at our issue at hand.
You are fine and i still think that maybe getting on some birth control will help.

Well 'feeling down' can mean depressed too. I hope that you realize that there's a similiarity there and that being depressed is more like feeling down to feeling like you can't do anything at all. It's a spectrum of an emotion that you can feel, and it's possible that if your period is late, feeling down may have something to do with it. In any case, I'm sure it will come soon. Keep us posted!

first, thanks to everyone whos posted on this, everythings been quite helpful.

and to bbfeet 9, your a mum right? well, its not that me and my mum arent close, love her to bits, but weve never really spoken about this kind of thing before. and the thing is, i have had this boyfriend for about a year now... hes amazing; not the kind of guy just after sex or anything like that. so my mum knows how close we are, and we have never had sex or anything at all like that, but im afraid if i mention it to her, she'll just assume ive done something stupid with this guy. anyways... love both of them to bits, but wouldnt want her to be wary of this guy or something like that (mums can be very over protective :-P)
so can i ask you what you would say if your daughter asked you about this? i know its a bit personnal, but it would help.

and healthnfitnessguy... i dont think im depressed, ive just been through some tough times lately. sometimes i feel like everything is a struggle, and that sucks. but i am pretty sure things will be getting better, like i mentioned, my boyfriend is really keeping me afloat. and its not that im ashamed to say im depressed, more scared of saying it. i really am trying though, you know, to keep positive. and i think things will be better soon. thanks for everything guys, any more would be greatly appreciated :-)

just_carrie, it's so good to hear that you finally got your period! I know that it can be really scary when you don't get one, so I'm glad to hear that you're doing well. I did want to address something you said though--since you said you're scared to talk about depression. It's okay to be depressed! Do you have a counselor or someone like that at school who you can talk to? If you are feeling scared like this again, of course feel free to post here, but also consider talking to someone in real life too. You can use both to support yourself. Thanks for keeping us posted!

I got my period a week after my twelfth birthday. For two whole years I have been consistent in when my period comes, I can almost pin the exact date every time. I am now fourteen soon to be fifteen and my period is 12 days late. About a week ago I had really nasty cramps so I was expecting to have my period but nothing has happened. I do not have a boyfriend and haven't even kissed anyone. I do not diet and embarrassingly enough I do not exercise (even if i need it) The fact my period is 12 days late worries me the most. I have not told anyone and I do not know whatnto do. Please help me!

I'm 15 years old and I have never been consistent with my period, I am a virgin and I legit have nothing to do with boys. I've missed my period for 4 months now and I'm starting to get worried. I have missed it for three months before and it eventually came but the last period I had was a bloody discharge and only lasted for 3 days. I'm hoping it's nothing serious but I don't feel I can talk to my mum or anyone about it.
