I have just returned from having a radioactive test done on my gall bladder. It confirmed that it is not working. A previous ultrasound showed no stones or sludge and no increase or decrease in size.
My only symptoms have been nausea after eating for the past 10 days. Thankfully my doctor took me seriously. My questions are these:
1. What causes it to quit working?
2. Is surgery the only option other than a very strict low-fat diet (which I've been on for 2 years anyway for cholesterol problems).
3. Is there a magic pill that will stimulate it or do its job for it?
Thank you

Could you please post what has happened since your last post in 2008? I have the exact same issue at this time and have been researching like crazy. 6% ejection fraction on HIDA scan, no stones, no biliary pain, and no reaction when taking the HIDA. Very unusual case according to the doctors! Anyway, I changed my diet to low fat only, but only a few weeks ago. You were on for 2 years prior to 2008. Where are you now? Thanks for the update!

Wondering what you’ve done about your gall bladder not functioning. I have had this for 10 years. I had HIDA test two years ago.
Thank you.
