Hello everyone this is my first time using this sight but I really need some advice and I hope someone can give it to me!! My name Is Rachel i've been an opiate addict for 8 years. I checked myself into detox on March 5, and was started on suboxone that day. I was on 24 mg for about a month then I cut down to 16. I had been in a intensive outpatient program for 6 weeks did great didn't relapse once did all my work life was great. When I graduated the program I was assigned a new Dr. He was a prick. He wanted to cut me back right away and start counting my meds and take me off my sleeping pills and all kinds of other whack sh*t. He was very controlling and I don't like that. So I said the hell with it, I stopped going there. And I had a script with 30 films to last me a month so I stayed at my 16mg and someone stold quite a few from me leaving me with just a few. I had no choice but to taper myself very rapidly in 4 days I had cut back to a half. Today is my first day without any and i'm already feeling like c**p. Chills/body aches, don't get me wrong nothing like opiate withdrawls, but still no pretty situation! I have a 3 and 4 year old to take care of and I have a hard time doing that when I feel ill. And i've heard that these withdrawls are long lasting, even though some have said it's not that bad. Does anybody have good news for me?? What can I do to help the process? I already have cravings and I can't relapse. I'm desperate!!?

Ive been on sub for about 2 years now and Im ready to face the world sober! (hopefully)! Sub was a smart decision in some ways when I got prego with my little princess a few years ago I cried I was on anything and everything I could find and scared to death that I couldnt quit, well for the first month I quit everything cold and it wasnt so hard, I mean Ive been through withdrawal before, hard, awful, painful withdrawal, but it wasnt so bad that time! I think mainly because i had it in my head I had to do this for my child! But like every other time Id tried to quit life knocks you down and I relapsed! Then a friend told me about sub and I thought to my self that it was the smartest thing I could do I mean atleast I wouldnt have a chance of another relapse and face harming my baby! So I have been on it ever since and now all I wanna do is get off everything and be normal again! (Whatever normal is!) I just want to be happy with my family and not have to depend on a pill everyday to make me feel good/happy! Im just hoping that it isnt hard as hell , I know sub is just like any other drug, but the doctor told me it was mainly in your head, I mean we all know that sub doesnt do a darn thing for pain! But anyways its been my second day and so far so good no much pain or anything at all but my mind is still telling me that I want it I need it but hopefully I can do it this time! 400 dollars a month is something I just dont have anymore and I just wanna spend the rest of my life being a good mom and looking back on all these drug filled years as a bad dream! Good luck to everyone else! Hope you have a great recovery~

How much did u take daily ,, I hope it was low because you said $400 a month ,, your output was on 6-19 today is 6-21 , if you did not feel any uncomfortableness or usual drug sickness just minor uncomfortable feeling which goes away and if you can sleep , you are fine ,,,
your body getting used to new (healthy) system of living.
I take 1 milligram a day half of 2mg tablet sometimes the whole tablet cut in half , I tried quitting cold turkey few times , it was not that easy mainly because I was at work now I have few month off , I will try it again by cutting down do 1 mg a day cut it in half which will be a quarter of 2 mg ,, see how it goes ,,
I wish you well , stay strong never look back , consider it a phase in life and its gone ,,this could be your new freedom , slavery to drugs is over.

For those of you that are still on subs and trying get off I will recommend what my doctor has been having me do over the last couple months. Each week I skip one day of meds. I started on 16 mg..can't even fathom why I was on that high of a dose now that I have realized how strong suboxone truely is. Maybe I just got i am now on 4 mg a day. Every week I skip a random day. One week it may be a Monday, the next week a Wednesday. Try not to get in a routine and skip the same day every week. The trick is to not let your body and mind get into a habit of skipping the same day every week. As other people have said on this forum, suboxone will stay in your system for 48-72 hours. You will be fine skipping one day a week as the medication is still in your body. The key is to not let your brain overpower you into thinking you need the medication. I was hesitant at first, I would go a day and a half and take 2 mg. Then I got myself to skip a full day and have been doing that since I went Down to 8mg. Also what I did was go from 16 mg to 12 mg to 8 mg to 6 mg to 4 mg and am still there at 4 mg. Somedays I get away with taking only 2 mg but I have not yet successfully gotten down to 2 mg on my own. My doc is still prescribing me 4 mg a day plus an extra couple films incase something happens or I need more one day but I really don't ever take more so I have extra just incase I lose sole or something happens where the pharmacy has to order more and I'm out for a couple days I have it covered. Once I go down to 2 mg I plan on skipping one day a week then eventually skipping 2 says a week then going down to 1 mg a day and doing the same thing. I have done a lot of research and it appears the slower the taper the better success rate to getting off subs. Also I suggest taking a muti vitamin every day. My doctor has me take it at night because he says it's more beneficial since I am not taking subs while I sleep so I will wake up refreshed. I can't wIt to be off them. It's been 11 months, too long if you ask me. I really wish doctors wouldn't prescribe such a high dose for everybody. I was taking oc and norco for about 2 years before I got on subs and it took me about 3 months to realize I didn't need to take as much as I was prescribed and I would be just fine. Since then, i lowered myself on my own even if I was prescribed more which meant my medication would last longer and I could go every month and a half to two months instead of once a month. When you're paying $150 a month it really helps to make your dose last as long as you can. Well I hope that this will help some of you out there. I am expecting some w/d when I finally quit but they say it's much less severe than even vicodin. I was taking upwards of 20-30 a day of the 10/325s as well as up to 160-240 mg of oxycontin and when I would run out it was hell! Like I said I know I will experience some w/d from the subs but I know it wont be nearly as bad as a full agonist whether short acting or long acting. Also I plan to have extra subs for when I quit an will probably go 2-3 days then take 1-2mg then go a few days and repeat for the first couple weeks then stretch it to 4 days or so if need be. But I'm hoping it doesn't come to that. And the only reason I would do that is to keep the taper nice and slow until I am completely off em. Anyways goodluck to all of you starting subs, on subs, or trying to get off them. Stick in there, especially those of you just starting. The first few days can be rough but it gets better. Much better! This has been a miracle drug for me. I tried everything from cold turkey to trying taper the opiates I was on and failed miserably. Once I got on suboxone, the first couple days were a little uneasy but after the drug built up in my system, it worked wonders. No aching bones after day 2/3, no hot and cold sweats after the first day, no mind cravings after a couple days, sleep pattern returned to normal after a few days, I felt like a normal person after the first few doses. And for those of you that are planning on starting, you need to wait at least 12 hours for short acting opiates like norco/vicodin, 24 hours at least for oxycontin, and 36 hours for methadone. Or you WILL catapult yourself into precipitated withdrawal as your opiate receptors are stripped of your normal drug of choice whatever it may be. Btw I read that if you do go into precip w/d the say to get over it is to redose a few hours after and the increased suboxone with over compensate and help get rid of the w/d symptoms which are just as bad as w/d from whatever you are getting into the program for. What I did was take my normal dose the day before I went to my doctor. Then the last dose I took i took only half or less of my normal dose 15-18 hours before my appointment and went to bed early. Then when I went in, I had been off for 15-18 hours and was in mild to moderate w/d, nothing I couldn't handle and started the subs. I didn't want to skip a whole day or more and feel miserable before starting my subs. This helped me a lot with not having the urge to redose score my appointment which would have led to my doctor not starting me on the program as the give you a very powerful drug test to see if you have any opiate currently in your system which would cause precipitated w/d. Also, my experience was after my first dose, I felt crappy for a few hours which went away that evening but nothing like a full blown w/d. Definately manageable. I recommend that you start on a day you can take the day off and go home and rest and lay down and watch tv or sleep through the worst part (which isn't bad compared to cold turkey). It only goes uphill from there. Day 2/3/4 you begin to feel like a normal person. By the end of the first week you feel great. I hope that any of you that are considering getting off of opiates give suboxone a shot. You won't be disappointed. And if you think about it, the suboxone treatment is cheaper than your habit on most cases. Unless you are getting a prescription from a doctor that is covered by insurance you will most likely be saving money so don't let money be a factor when deciding getting help. I was spending around $1000-$1500 a month on my pills and once I started sub treatment I was spending $150 for the doc visit plus my copayment of $25 for the subs. I hope I have persuaded some of you to get help and get your life back. We've all made mistakes and it's time to own up to it. It's time to stop letting yourself be a slave to a pill, heroin, whatever your on. Cuz that's what we are. Slaves. I'm sure most of you were like me. You planned your day around getting high and making sure you had enough pills, dope, whatever to last you through the day. Day after day after day. Theres help out there, you just hace to be willing to seek it. Peace and love to all of you.

I have been using 32mg of suboxone for a little over 8 years, I was up to 800-1000mg morphine daily and could not handle that detox, i just couldn't deal with the sickness, Well I will start by saying Sub Saved my Life! It gave me the clean time away from that lifestyle i needed to grow up and understand whats important in life, I've gotten myself down to 4mg daily from 32mg in 1.5 months, Yeah I'm sick as hell no two ways about it, I wish i was getting off vicodin LOL, anyway i'm out of meds about friday a couple days away so this will be fun, i am trying to cut my dose down a little everyday and I realize my taper is Wayyyy too fast! If you think you might want to quit a year from now start tapering NOW! Don't let any dr give you more 16mg daily hell 8 is more like it caus if you do you'll pay for it later!, i'm 6-3 265 and Have Chronic Pain and 8mg is plenty, I feel like there is a Ton of BS out there on this med but one thing i noticed the most was the Ungodly Price, my script was 932$ a month, Luckily i have insurance, My wedding is July 7th LOL what a time to deal with this ehhh!

Ur so stupid to say 8mg to 7.5 to 7mg etc! Nobody should start off with 8mg first of all....it is too much! You can start off with 4mg at the most of 2mgs 3 times a day for two weeks then reduce altogether for a month or two and get off. The longer you stay on Suboxone then another battle with WD such as you did with opiates.

You are doing everything wrong and you will feel shitty if you finish up them fast because you started with high dosage which was not necessary. 32 mgs a day!!! Way too much for your body. Drs are dumb! 2mg is powerful enough and twice a day will make you happy. The longer the high dosages you take will be difficult for you so you will have to taper everything slowly and take much lower dosages ASAP. Start 4 mgs now then to 2mgs and so on. Don't stay on too long as it will be more difficult like you had with opiates.
