Hi. I'm 26 year old female and I have some questions about my present health status. About two months ago I started to use some contraceptive pill called Levlen and experienced some strong abdominal cramps.
So, I have decided to change my pill and start using some other called Orthocyclen. My abdominal cramps have stopped but I started to feel some other symptoms such as excessive body weight gain.
And also, beside this, I have experienced several depression episodes this month and I was wondering could this be caused by this drug.
Thanks!

Because I had same problems last year, I was also interested in this question. I gained over than 25 pounds for about two months of using it and one doctor told me that this is quite common side effect of birth control pill usage.
So, I was aware that I'm having big chances to gain even more weight and I started to increase my physical activity and, after several months of using it, my body weight is stabile now.
I haven’t suffered from depression episodes like you, but I know that this could also occur when you use these pills. But that is definitely thing you must accept and start to fight against it.
You must know that nothing in life comes for free, so if you want to be sure that you will not end up pregnant, try to accept some possible side effects and learn to live with them.
